here goes nothing

My mom called me earlier tonight and said she needed some blog entertainment. I think we've all been stuck in our respective houses a little too long. We did get snow after all. Well, sort of. We got about an inch of snow with a glaze of ice over it. You know, just enough to be nasty and dangerously slick. Not actually the kind of stuff you want to take your just-barely-walking toddler out in. So... blog material.... blog material.

Here goes nothing. Like literally.

Last week I got some free yogurt at Harris Teeter because of sales and super doubles. I'm not a huge yogurt eater, but it was some kind of vanilla strawberry fruit parfait stuff with granola, and it was pretty tasty. Something about free tastes so good.

I made spicy shrimp and grits tonight. It was pretty good except that I somehow got red pepper in my nose. It burned for at least 30 minutes. Kind of took away some of the inherent awesomeness of the meal.

I got my books today! I am so pumped to get started. We're doing Radical with our group at the end of January. So I'm thinking "Calm My Anxious Heart," but am really anxious to start "Crazy Love" too. Decisions, decisions.

I ordered some brown boots (mine were literally cracking in half... they were obviously not good quality) from  Old Navy last week. They came today. I think I should have ordered a 7 1/2 but I'll make do with the 8. Partly because I bet they're out by now, but mostly just because I don't like having to send stuff back.

I drove to Target today, thinking I was the only one who knows how to drive in the snow. I bet that's what people are thinking right before they slam into a guard rail.

I had to drop off a package at Staples to ship via UPS today. It was a return (I know), so it was already paid for. But I didn't feel safe nor did I have time to go across town to the post office to mail my other package. So I just decided to mail it through UPS too. 2.9 lbs and $13 later, I decided never to do that again. Good grief.

Jonah has counted "one, two, three, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten," "one, two, three, night night," and "one, two, three, five, turtle!" in the last two days. Yeah, we're working on it.

Jonah is now sleeping with a hard, green plastic ball because he wouldn't let it go. We pick our battles.

Deac will go down the partly icy steps but won't come back up them. I don't think I need to tell you how annoying it is to have to go outside in the freezing cold weather, down the stairs in nothing but your t-shirt, pj pants, and socks to rescue your foo foo dog. I love him, but he's a pansy. Truth.

My mom makes the best Chicken and Dumplings in the whole world. I'm not kidding. (She brought me those too.)

Yesterday when Jonah was playing with his Laugh and Learn pony, he counted to ten with the video. I was impressed. But then, after reaching ten, he said "AH, AH, AH!" like the Count on Sesame Street. I was overwhelmed with his cuteness.

Tomorrow I'll be cutting coupons and trying to get more free yogurt. The excitement never ends.

I love it that he made the noise like The Count after counting! Totally cute!

My husband was telling me this morning that our dog went out to go potty but as soon as he lifted his leg he started sliding. I felt bad for him.

That should have been "making the Count noise." It's late- I should get in bed:).

Thanks for the blog entertainment. We are going on day 3 of cancelled school due the the 8-10 inches of snow we got here in north GA so I am desperate for anything other than Disney Channel.

Loving the eight, nine, turtle . . . to sweet.

Blessings!

Love those boots! I'm looking for new black ones but I think I'm going to be a Texan and get cowboy ones for the first time. EEK!

So you slammed into a guard rail? Hopefully I read that wrong - but if not, I'm glad you're ok!

And how awesome that "Count Jonah" can count all the way up to turtle!! AH AH AH!!! That boy is just the sweetest! By the way, how's he eating these days?

Enough random responses from me - am heading to bed. It's crazy cold here today (wind chills around 15!) and I haven't been able to warm up!

Love from TX!

My son had that pony and would still be using it if he hadn't gotten too tall! (He's 3 now)
We have 6 inches of snow here in Tennessee bordering Ga. We haven't had this much snow since the blizzard of '93! We have had a blast! My neighbor built a 10 ft tall snowman!
Wish I could make chicken and dumplin's! Mom...send some this way!!!

I love the whole coupon thing. You're right, it tastes better when it's free. LOL.

Way cute boots! My calves are too fat for cute boots. I muddle through with pink Uggs.

Love the boots!

I always find that ups or fedex ground isn't much different from USPS, and if the package is larger, they are better. Plus, if the plane is not full, you get air speed for ground price!!

Wow, you have things happen like I have happen. I also have a pansy dog (and another who looks at "pansy" and says, are you nuts? this is FUN!). I am glad that you were able to find things to entertain your mother (and me) and I hope you can keep on smiling! Love you, Patrice! Jennifer in Southeast, NC

I forked out $15 to mail some diapers to my friend yesterday. Highway robbery, I tell ya. And my toddler sleeps with Hot-Wheels monster trucks at night. I bet the hard plastic ball is much more comfortable.

Counting to ten and ending with "AHH AHH AHH!" - too frekin' cute!

I loved your "nothing post".

Hope y'all have a good day.

That was one of the most entertaining blog posts in a long time :)
We have a new puppy and i was trying to get her to pee outside. She ran circles around me, found sticks in the snow, dug tunnels in drifts but refused to pee. The jsut moments after I brought her in she peed on my carpet. I was MAD!!!! I still love her but she better not do that again. LOL

As you know, Rory sleeps with books. Not 1 or 2--15 or 20. Hard back golden books.
