this and that

I knew I shouldn't have blogged about it. That's right, folks. Jonah is a freak of nature. His 17 ounce eating binge from Monday has slowly dwindled over the last couple days to just a couple of ounces here and there. He's still eating some solids, but certainly not enough to give him substantial calories. He also now only likes his previously-loved yogurt about 12% of the time. I'm okay with it though. I know he CAN, and more than anything, I just think he's being a typical 15-month-old I'll-do-what-I-want-when-I-want toddler baby.

We've had a decent last couple of days. Nothing really big to report. I haven't been blogging as much lately because we haven't been getting out that much, except to occasionally run an errand, so I really don't have much to talk about. We went to Kids Eat on Monday, and they were proud of how well Jonah was doing (but, of course, he ate like a champ while we were there). They've given us a few suggestions to try, including alternating bites of foods he really likes with stuff he might not be too crazy about, giving him an exciting new toy to play with but then taking it away, giving a bite, and then giving it back as reward, and trying to feed him the strange concoctions I come up with - what's going straight into his tube. I know it sounds gross (they told me I was not allowed to make the disgusted face I made when they mentioned it), but they said it would be good because it is well-rounded, nutritious, the right consistency, and the flavor is always changing. I don't know... I guess anything's worth a shot.

I guess that's it for now. I REALLY, really have nothing to talk about. Seriously, I've been sitting here staring at this screen (with an occasional glance at the Friday Night Lights episode we're watching... I'm only human) for several minutes. I guess no news of vomit or major eating issues or excessive blistering is good news, right?

Right... boring though it may be.

Don't worry about boring! It's always good to get a Jonah update!

Hope your Thursday is wonderful - and that it's a successful eating day!

Love,
Laura

PS - I showed Caroline & Garrison the "one semester of Spanish love song" and they loved it! They knew a lot of the words from their 3rd grade Spanish class! :)

If boring means no gushers, eating issues or major blisters...we'll take it! Glad y'all are doing well and things are "boring" right now :) Prayers and blessings.

I much prefer boring to blisters! Maybe you should come up with a code word to let us know that Jonah is eating like a champ? LOL, that way he wouldn't pick up the vibe that you have been bragging on him.
Seriously, I'm so happy he is doing well!

Good ole everyday life is good news for us who pray for Jonah. I have never found you to be boring. Thanks for the Jonah update - your little guy is so precious.

You are right on target--anytime you brag about a little one doing something special they will not do it again for several days. Babies/toddlers like to mess with our minds.

Boring is good-that means you are only dealing with normal 15 month old stuff. But I am always excited to hear that everything in the William's family is going well.

How about some more pictures??? I loved the ones you have posted recently. The pictures of you & Matt are great--you are a very attractive couple.

Hope the rest of your week goes well & that Jonah fakes you out & eats like a champ.

Love & prayers

My son is two and a half and still goes days with barely eating a thing. So, I suspect Jonah will keep doing this to you for some time. Fortunately he loves to drink milk, so he gets calories that way. But many nights he'll eat maybe 5 bites (sometimes less) of dinner...

I am not sure if you have already heard/seen this but hopefully you can help spread the word....

This was sent to me from a woman named Caroline Ruhl who is trying to help a boy with EB.

"I just spent 11 weeks in Romania volunteering, and will be spending another 8 this summer. The second day of my trip, we received a little boy named Raul. Raul has a horrible genetic skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa. Even the slightest friction or pressure can cause his skin to blister. The local doctors do not know about this condition, and they cannot purchase proper wound care supplies in the area. Therefore, I have been raising funds to send/bring over supplies from the U.S. for Raul. I head back to Romania on June 25th, and am hoping to bring with me enough supplies to last through the summer. To fundraise I created a page for Raul online at www.giveforward.org/raul . Please look at this page, even just to learn about Raul and EB. And please pass this on to friends and family that might be interested in learning about Raul or even donating!" -Caroline
