a good day

Another short post tonight. I'm tired, it's my night, and I am DETERMINED to be in bed by 9:45. Jonah's been going down at 9, and I've been staying up until 11 or 12. Craziness. So tonight I'm putting myself in a glorious time out.

Jonah's been doing much better with his sleeping lately. He's only been waking up once to eat, eating four to six ounces in about thirty minutes, and then going right back to sleep. So the last few nights we've only had to be up with him about forty minutes total. So I would be getting some good sleep if I wasn't staying up to wash dishes, mix milk, fold laundry, blog and read blogs.

Today was a great day. Jonah had to get his second flu shot today, but the nurse called this morning to say that if we'd let him know when we were in the parking lot, he'd come out and do it at the car. They've been having many flu cases come in, and he didn't want Jonah to have to come in to all of that. I thought that was so nice. Anyway, we got there, and it took him a while to come out, so I put Jonah in his umbrella stroller and let him look around and watch the cars go by. He was so happy, and I LOVED the time outside. It was absolutely beautiful here today. Maybe a high of 80 with the greatest breeze. I wouldn't minded if it had taken him an hour to get out there. :) Jonah did get gaggy when I put him the car seat to leave the house, but never puked. He didn't gush all day!!! Woohoo!

After the doctor, we went to the grocery store to pick up our groceries. That's right... to pick them up. There is one (only one) Harris Teeter in Winston that will let you shop online and do pick up. They charge a 4.99 fee for doing your shopping for you, but then you just pull up, buzz them, and they bring your groceries right out to the car. Totally worth every dime. I plan my meals for two weeks and do a big grocery trip, so I was having to leave Jonah with Matt and spend two hours at the grocery store on a Saturday (when maybe I could have been napping???). Gross. And since it's so hard to get out with Jonah, it just makes more sense to do the pick-up service. I went and got them today because Matt's mom was with me, and Jonah was asleep, but typically I'll probably do the ordering over the weekend and have Matt pick them up when he gets off work on Monday. The grocery store that does it is really close to his work. Suh-weet.

After that we stopped by McDonald's and got hot fudge sundaes.

And if all that wasn't great, Jonah fell asleep in the car at 3:00, stayed asleep when I got him out of the car seat once we got home, let me put him in bed, and slept until 6:00. And he STILL went down at 9:00. Before today, I can't remember the last time he took a decent nap... maybe
lasagna day.

Okay, it's 9:28... only 17 minutes to get ready, say my prayers, and get to sleep. I don't know that I can work relax under this kind of pressure.

Yikes! It's 9:31 now. I'm not proofreading this post, so please ignore any mistakes.

I'm glad you had a great day! I would agree that the grocery pick up is the BEST! If I didn't live in boonies and had the option...I would totally do that. Hope the shot was painless for Jonah. Blessings

Great Day! It sounds like you've got a great nurse, too. Not too hard to believe since I am sure he has been drawn in by Jonah's sweetness just like the rest of us! I'll say some prayers that Jonah gives you a good night. Get some sleep!

Yea! What a great day (except for his shot!)! He looks so cute in his 7 month pictures! Looks like his face is clearing up a little bit. Caroline didn't like baby food at first either- she actually never ate baby food veggies - only fruit. (once she got used to baby food, we squished up veggies off our own plate for her - she liked that better) And, once she got over the cold factor, she LOVED Yo Baby Yogurt - Strawberry banana is her favorite! Ice cream may or mat not have influenced her acceptance of cold yogurt. God is good - Jonah is doing good on his weight for not eating so well. He is such a cute baby. We think of and pray for you all often, still.

Love,
The Hausers (Jon, Andrea, Carston and Caroline)

Hooray for a great day!

What a kind thing the nurse did for Jonah (and his momma) - such a change from earlier doctors visits, and a blessing for that change.

Praying you are getting lots of great sleep tonight.

I'm laughing because I'm wondering if it was the "good" strikethrough that took you the three minutes between 9:28 and 9:31.

I am so happy you had a good day with Jonah. What a great idea to pick up your groceries and then you don't end up buy any extra goodies at the store that you don't need. I hope the rest of your week goes even better!

What a great, gush-free day! I'm so glad you and Jonah were able to enjoy the day, and what a great nurse that he gave curb service on the flu shot!

That grocery pick-up sounds like a winner to me, too - am not sure if they have anything like that here in North Texas, but I'd be willing to pay for it! Of course, I end up letting my hubby do most of the shopping, so it's kind of the same thing! LOL!

Anyway, I'm glad it was such a good day and will pray for a restful night for you!

Love,
Laura

Hello...My name is Andrea and I have been following your blog since Jonah's birth. He (and you all of course) are always in my prayers. I just wanted to take a minute to let you know how much I enjoy reading your blog. You make me laugh out loud sometimes (fantasy football post, hello, hilarious). That's why God picked you to be Jonah's mom...you have patience, humor and the utmost love and faith in your God to get through whatever hurdles He throws your way. Lots of hugs and love from Mesa, AZ...Andrea

Oh, I'm so thrilled to hear that things are going better at the Williams house! I've been thinking of you with this weather, and wondering if you guys have been able to get out in it much. Yay for Jonah being content and a little more predictable! It makes ALL the difference in the world! My hope is that he was just teething or something funky and THIS is how he normally is and will be for quite awhile longer. :)

So good to hear things are going better - Jonah is amazing and God has brought you so far! I love to see his pictures and videos. Thank you for sharing your little guy with us as we pray for him.

ps Did you see the update on Samantha's caring bridge sight? She is being released from the hospital to the Ronald McDonald House!

Yay for a good day and that doctor of yours is so sweet and thoughtful...hope you had a restful night. Our one grocery store offers that and I have yet to try it...maybe because I'm so picky when it comes to me selecting our own produce...not sure. Hope your week continues to go well. Hugs and prayers to you all.

You can order your groceries and pick them up?? I have NEVER heard of such a thing. I will now be scoping out or grocery stores to see if they offer that.

Glad to hear Jonah is giving you some breaks at night. It's amazing when they start sleeping through the night. You feel like a whole new person!
