I live in vermont and you will probably be totally shocked but i have never been in a target.. and no we do not have a chick-fil-A or a Sonic... pray that we get one soon... Lyndsey
We're not far behind! I hope to have another edition of TargetWatch '09 soon. They still won't let me drive in the parking lot to get better pictures, but they say they're still looking at "Fall" for opening.
See, I told you! *lol* I mentioned in a comment before that my state is the only one with no Target. Pity me! Hehe. I've never even seen a Chick-Fil-A or Starbucks or Target with my own eyes. I'm not actually complaining though, I enjoy being in the middle of nowhere.
And actually, we do drive to another state every time we need something, since NH has no sales tax.
WOW! And I complain because our new neighborhood's Target isn't quite as grand as our old neighborhood's Target! I guess I should be thankful I am not in Vermont. No Target...that's terrible. No Chick-Fil-A...no good. No Sonic....CATASTROPHIC!!!
My husband and I laughed hysterically at this post! He is from Vermont...lived there 25 years before moving to NC. He said just to add the fact that they are Target-less to the list of many "stupid" decisions Vermont has made!
Okay no Target, no Chick-Fil-A, and no Starbucks what is a new mom supposed to do? Those were my saving graces in those early days of no sleep! I knew I could get up and look forward to wandering around a Target, getting a Starbucks, and having Chick-Fil-a for lunch! Vermont needs to get with the program for the sake of all new mothers!
I'm curious what the other "stupid" decisions are, but it's probably best left alone. ;) Besides, I imagine the decision was Target's, not Vermont's. I didn't grow up here, but I call it home now and I love it, Target or no. But I'm not really the shopping type anyway. :)
Bummer for Vermont...I think I would go through some serious illness without my Target! Oooohhh...guess what??? A Sonic JUST OPENED not far from us and we are SO flippin excited!!!! I'm thinking we might go there in the next day or so! Woot Woot! Hope your little guy stops spitting up so much....I can only imagine how much more of a bummer it is with dressing changes. Continue to pray for your sweet boy!
vermont is very anti-big box retail, preferring to support mom&pop run shops to keep small town main streets alive. if you've been to vermont you can appreciate how this adds to the character of the state, versus most other places (especialyl the south where I'm from originally)with strip mall, drive-thru, big box retail, strip mall, drive drive-thru, big box retail....I hate it when I visit my parents and the only options for food are chain restaurants with gargantuan proportions and fast food. Also, every town looks the same, with the same places to shop and eat. Just one poster's opinion....
i laughed when i read this. as i have mentioned to you before i have only recently discovered the joys of target. i wrongly tossed it into the "same as walmart' bag and never stepped foot inside one until may while in las vegas for a month. my sister dragged to one kicking and screaming that i wanted macy's. i wanted nordstrom. now i *heart* target. my niece was just here for 10 days, from las vegas, and we went to target at least every other day and had a blast shopping together.
Patrice, I read your blog from a few days ago about the Similac... it's not much, but I have FOUR unopened containers (some the small sample size, some the bigger size). They all have the "blue lids", which I guess is Similar Advance with DHA/ARA. You are more than welcome to them. Let me know how to get them to you- ebfalke@hotmail.com
i went to the new TARGET in greenland, new hampshire today!! so excited because now i dont have to drive half an hour to my favorite store! i would have moved out of VT a long time ago if i was living there. i cant go a week without visiting the best store on the planet!
OK, well I live in VT and yes, there's no Target, but we do have Starbucks! We don't have a lot of things here. I have to drive 45 minutes to get to Walmart. There are no Super Walmarts. There is only 1 fast food place (Micky D's) within a 50 mile radius of where I live. And if you go to a "city" where there is more than one McD. there are probably only 3 other fast food places around. But we do have electricity and running water, but they do have to pump the sunshine out to us country folk. ;o)

I live in Iowa now and I have to drive at least 50 min to an hour to get to a Target ... but I can, at least!

Exactly, SS! :) The only chain place in my little VT town is a Subway. Even the grocery store is locally-owned.
