asheville, day five

Jonah reached his exhaustion limit today, so it was a little less relaxing but we still had a good time. We were going to go to a Asheville Tourists game, but it was raining at start time, so we opted out. Instead, we went to Mast General Store, Mellow Mushroom for lunch (where Jonah fought his feeding by mouth and then proceeded to throw up all over himself), and bowling in the afternoon. (Kim would like me to insert here that she more than doubled her little brother's score, with a whopping 143 game. Matt scored somewhere in the 60's. He stopped trying to knock down pins and started trying to go for fastest roll. I'm fairly certain he started this game, though, because he was getting his butt whooped by a girl.) Jonah had a MAJOR freak out attack when we came back, certainly his low moment for the week so far, but recovered after dinner and went down easy tonight. I'm off to bed soon myself. No set plans for tomorrow so no getting up at 6:45 like I've had to the last two days. Hooray! On a sad note, Aunt Melanie had to leave us today, so we're a relative down, but we definitely loved having her. These are from last night and today.

One of Jonah's favorite games to play is "Knock Grant and/or Abby down on the floor."

asheville, day four

It ended up being a high of 81 today, so Granny, Grandaddy, Matt, and Kim stayed home with Jonah while Andrew, Melanie, Grant, Abby, Will, and I went trail riding. We had so much fun! And Jonah had a good day playing around the house and for the first time this week, he got a real nap (two hours!) in his pack-n-play. Tomorrow we're hitting a minor league baseball game, and I'm not sure what else. (On a side note - you know what's almost as good as a two hour horseback ride in the mountains? The long hot end-of-day shower afterwards. You know the kind I'm talking about? The kind that is completely relaxing because you know you don't have to put on make-up or dry your hair or wake your baby up to do dressing change afterwards. So relaxing and much needed. We stank stunk remained stinky were smelly.) The real question - will I be able to move tomorrow?

Thanks to Aunt Melanie for the photos!

asheville, day three

Another awesome day today. We spent almost the entire day at Biltmore and Jonah really only cried once... when we took him on the elevator. He is terrified of elevators. We spent the morning touring the house and then ate lunch right outside in the "stable" area. Jonah ate his entire lunch (sweet potatoes and pear strawberry granola) by mouth and didn't complain about a bite. He was AMAZING! After lunch we went up to the farm and let the kids pet the animals. Jonah never cried or even complained, but there was a lot of "all done chicken," "all done horse," and "all done goat." He was a little tired. But he was a sweetheart all day, and tonight, I sang him to sleep in my arms, and he went down without a fight. It has been an amazing day. Tomorrow we hope to go horseback riding, but we're waiting on a call back. We are having a great time... relaxing, laughing, eating, seeing the sites... Jonah is having the time of his life. I couldn't ask for a better time. We all needed this.

Photos from today. No photos were allowed in the house, and the outside of the house was so big I never could get much of it in my lens. Crazy. (Sorry there are so many. I couldn't decide.)
