this and that

Y'all want to see something crazy?

Yep, that is a hair, grown into Jonah's skin, causing a little mini blister around the site.

If he gets a hair under his bandages (his, mine, the kitty's), it literally grows into his skin OVERNIGHT. Isn't that weird? I guess, because his skin is always regenerating and healing it just grows over the hair? I don't know. I mean, I'd understand if there was an open wound there, but that was completely intact skin. So weird! When I mentioned it to his dermatologist, he'd never heard of that. Anyway, any day he has one of these (sometimes on an arm or leg), often two or three times a week, I have to take tweezers, break the skin, and get it out, just like you would for a splinter. His skin breaks away really easily though, so it's not as hard as getting a splinter out. Most of the time, the hair won't cause a blister. Skin just encases it. Either way, I get them out because I'm afraid it will cause an infection. I don't really know. It's all a guessing game.

Jonah: unplugged partially unwrapped.

"Helping" me get ready for an Anton Fundraiser.

Matt was weirdly proud of this photo. I just don't get boys. (Don't let this photo scar you and keep you from buying that green shirt though. :) )

Anton's fundraising page is now up with a beautiful header, thanks to my brother. Check it out! Starting tomorrow I'll be putting up fundraising opportunities. I'm not going to post them all at once, but keep checking back. There will hopefully be all sorts of fun ways to help. But you can always donate through his Reece's Rainbow Page if you want to keep it simple. :) I can dig it.

And y'all, I don't know if you've realized this, seeing how January lasted two seconds, but Jonah's EB Auction starts in 16 days! Katie posted the details on the Auction Blog. All proceeds go to DebRA. I'm getting so EXCITED! We raised $9,000 last year to help families and fund research. I'm so pumped to see what God has in store for us this year. Katie will start teasing us with sneak peeks on the Auction Facebook Page very soon. Don't miss out. There's nothing like 16 days of coveting and scheming to get the bidding blood a flowin'.

Abby gets that problem with hair under the skin too. It's very annoying. Love the "unplugged" pics.

Love these pics of sweet Jonah! That is amazing how the hair grows under the skin!

And I'm super-excited about your new fundraising blog - looking forward to helping out in that way, at least. I feel like there is SOMETHING I ought to be doing for Anton, even if we can't adopt him.

Thank you again for sharing your heart with us and also rallying us as a community to help Anton. We all love you!!

Love from TX (which apparently should be renamed the Frozen Republic - MORE snow coming!)

I've never commented before but I've been following Jonah's story for quite a awhile. As an adoptive mother of a special needs child I would also like to advocate for Anton. I've posted his story on my blog with links to your new blog and his Reece's Rainbow page. If we all work together I'm sure we can find this precious boy a home. I'm willing to help any way I can.

So what do you do with the "Hair blister? Do you pop it and try to remove the hair or would that be more harmful then good.

We will be checking out the auction.

Jonah is so cute! Love the "unplugged" pics and the laying in the clothes. As for the picture Matt likes...I have four boys, it never ends!

Bella used to get hair growing under her skin too. It was usually the dog's hair, but could be anyone's. Sometimes we could get it out w/ tweezers. Most of the time, we'd just let it go and see what happened. Sometimes it caused a blister but sometimes it would just get absorbed never to be seen again. So strange. Too bad your derm didn't know more about that. There is so much yet to understand about EB...so much.

Wow. I've been thinking and praying about what I can do personally for Anton, and think donating to help him is just the thing! I also wanted to comment on Mr. Jonah's precious lil' face! It really looks AMAZING, in those pics. WOW! I cannot get over how great he looks. LOVE LOVE LOVE that lil' precious, sweet, smily face of his! Makes my day when I see such sweet, sweet pictures of him when he is so happy! Well, hope this e-mail finds all well for you and the rest of the Williams family! Loving the bible study posts, and such you've been so faithfully posting as of late. It is SO hard to admit your faults, and weaknesses, and come to terms with your downfalls. So proud of you for being able to admit all that you have. Keep up the hard work, it is definetely showing and paying off! God Bless dear!

A hair can get under Weston's bandages too and get under his skin that fast also. I don't see how a hair can do that, but it does. Sometimes it's even a long one from me! Someone told me once that people who cut hair and wear sandals get hairs in the skin on their feet.
