grrr

It is likely that Anton cannot be adopted by someone without "direct EB experience." Let me get this right, Judge, you will most likely deny this family because they don't have direct EB experience, but you're fine with Anton being kicked out of a medical facility with one-on-one care and put into an orphanage where the staff to child ratio is 1:20? Yeah, you have his best interest at heart. Sure you do.

Y'all I am so so angry that there is a family out there wanting to bring Sweet Anton home, and so many obstacles stand in their way. I know that God is in control, but I want control of this so badly I can barely stand it. Will you please pray? Pray for Anton's family, whoever they are, that all the details will come together and it will all work out. Or that if he's supposed to be somewhere else, God will reveal that family and quickly. I'm so terrified he's running out of time. One caregiver to 20 children is not enough. Especially when (at least) one has such demanding needs. If something happens to that sweet boy because he gets stranded in an orphanage when there is a family desperate to have him... so help me, I'll go crazy. This is NOT right.

(I should not let myself get overly tired. Forgive me. Tomorrow is a new day.)

You are an incredible advocate honey!Welcome to the RR family. I just wanted you to know that you are going to change this child's life forever. How amazing!

But just a word of warning, don't name the country. Just say Eastern Europe. It's safer for that sweet boy to just say EE instead of his specific country.

Thanks Molly. I'm new at this. :)

Praying for God to move swiftly in this. Insurance is amazing (said VERY sarcastically.)

Hope you get some rest and that sweet Jonah feels better very soon!

Love,
Laura

I don't know if this is something that would be possible but what if the "D" family was able to spend time with you and Jonah? perhaps that would show the judge that they are learning how to care for a child with EB? Just a thought...

I totally agree with you, this sweet baby boy deserves a good home he has been and going through enough already. I will be praying for the family and for Anton.

Praying with you. This is incredibly unfair. I like Bethany's idea. Praying like crazy for this to work out the way it's supposed to.

ITA with Bethany, or if not with you exactly then maybe another EB family might be closer and willing to "teach them the ropes". Still praying for Anton.

I had the same thought as Bethany and AJ. I don't know where this family lives but maybe we can put them into contact with an EB family that would be willing to train them and get some hands-on experience w/ bath & bandage change. Also, I seem to recall there have been some cases of families successfully appealing to their insurance to get bandages covered. There is always an appeals process. Sometimes it takes a few tries. Maybe we can hook them up w/ some of those families as well. We may not be able to change the bureacracy of the system but we can provide some support on our end. We are a strong but mighty EB community!

I was thinking the same thing as Bethany. Maybe D family could spend time with you and Jonah!! Praying Anton gets a family soon!

Can mommy D come hang out with jonah for a few days and get it.

This really frustrates me. Is it better that Anton spend his life in an orphanage with little or no care, instead of giving a family the opportunity to learn to care for him? I will pray that this family is able to take this sweet baby home and make him theirs. Please keep us updated, if you can, regarding this situation.

I just have one question - How many birth parents had EB experience when their child with EB was born?
I realize that it's slightly different, because birth parents are highly unlikely to "return" their child when the going gets rough, but still....
I'm still praying for Anton and his forever family, and Tripp and his mom too.

Definitely praying for this family! I guess the judge never thought of families who had a child who never had any experience with EB either? Sounds insane to me. If I wasn't expecting and we could afford it, I'd do all I can to adopt him. I look at him, and it makes me want him so bad. I certainly don't just see a baby with EB!

I love Jannette's comment. Maybe we should write a letter/petition as advocates for this family!

I am assuming that Anton would qualify for a Medicaid wavier of the state he would reside in once in the U.S. Would they cover the cost of bandages under durable medical equipment.

If the mom needs a state listing for Medicaid resources, here is one link: www.hopeforsupport.com

Will be keeping Anton in my prayers. It is such a heartbreaking situation that no child should face. :(

What if the D family spends some time with an EB family, "training" in caring for an EB child. Perhaps going thru dressing changes, etc...and then perhaps that EB family can write a letter of support for the D family stating that YES, they do have direct EB experience now! Just a thought!
The whole thing angers me too. I am praying that the D family can bring sweet Anton home!

yep, i agree with island baby. how can you be expected to have experince with an EB baby unless you can be around them?? stupid judge.
praying for you, jonah and the D family!
