jonah update

Things are going pretty well with Jonah. Sorry I haven't given a good update in a while. I'm forcing myself to go to bed at a decent hour, so blogging has fallen through the cracks a little. Why is it that a 20 month old doesn't understand what "fall back" means?

Jonah is eating his lunch by mouth most days, but is still taking breakfast and dinner by tube. We will soon be mixing in some textures and mashable foods (beans, bananas), along with his purees. He can now take steps when being held by only one wrist and can walk by himself behind a push toy. He can now say: bye-bye, night-night, Daddy, ten, uh-oh, yay, go (for Diego), up, down, rock-rock, hey, walk, kitty, Deac, Granny (Matt's mom), ball, Pop (my dad), shoe, toes, bubbles, choo-choo, and car. He can do animal sounds for the cow, bear, lion, monkey, kitty, and dog. He also does the cutest version of cockadoodledoo there ever was. There may be others but I tend not to remember things past 9 pm (or ever, really).

He woke up sounding really croupy again this morning. He was sounding better as the day went on though so I haven't given him any steroids. I did, however, take him to the doctor so they could listen to him, where he proceeded to get really upset and vomit all over himself and me. He had a change of clothes. I didn't. So I rewarded my vomit-covered self with a Sonic chocolate milkshake.

These photos are from Halloween weekend. We went down to Matt's parents for a get together they hosted for their Sunday School class. They have encouraged and helped us so much. It was so great to see them all and let them hang out with (a slightly fussy) Jonah.

Well, that's it for me tonight. I'm going to try to catch up on Grey's, and then I'm off to bed. Hope everyone is having a nice week.

LOVE my little man! Can't wait to see him in 6 weeks! Remember when Jake didn't say my name until he was 23 months old and then I Tweeted that it was worth the wait and then you said it made you teary-eyed? Yeah. I'll be that way for you, too. It's coming, mama. Just you wait. ;)

That precious boy - he just makes me smile every time I see him! I remember a couple of my kids holding out on the "mama" thing - and it does just warm you through and through when they finally do say it!!

Hope he has a good night and is not heading back toward croup (it is SO not fun!)

Love,
Laura

PS - Sonic chocolate shakes are GOOD medicine! :)

Yay, I've missed hearing about how he was doing. So glad to read that things are going well. Sounds like a lot of new stuff happening with eating and walking- you are going to be busy!

I'm sure all your readers would love hear him saying some of those animal sounds. *hint, hint*

I'd love to see a video of Jonah doing some of those animal sounds! I know how hard it is to get any child to perform when you want them to. My boys always made a lier out of me when I tried to get them to do anything in front of other people. Sweet pictures!

Oh my! I rarely comment, but it just hit me how much he's looking like a little boy instead of a baby :)

Mom there is no way that sweet smiling face could be fussy..maybe your ears had some lint in them (haha)

He is CHARMING making all of his animal sounds. He is charming even when he is fussy..I have to come look at THOSE sweet pictures several times each day just to build up my spirits...

Good to know he is well on his way to walking--watch out.

Love you

I was sitting here looking through your blog and my ten year old daughter came up behind me. She started asking me questions and I was able to tell her a little bit about EB...she said "oh he's so cute!" And he is! Love hearing the updates on Jonah!!

just wanted to say---Jonah gets cuter with each photo. You and Matt are great Parents. Jonah sounds like he is a good "talker" and right up to speed with all his words. Brenda

Ok- so Jonah is adorable- let's just get that out there first and foremost! I have been reading your blog since before Jonah was born I think and my 4 boys ( well, not my 6 month old just yet) pray for him each night. They love them some Jonut! ANYWAY- I really am not a crazy stalker lady but I had to tell you how PUMPED and giddy I was whenI got a catelog yesterday from TINYPRINTS and on the back they had celebrity ornaments to purchase to support EB! WHOO HOO! There it was in big ole' print! I had to comment and tell you ( I am sure you know) but it made me happy to see even a little being done for these sweet fighters from God! Jonah just gets more beautiful every time I see him! Praying he stays healthy!!!! And you stay sane! :o)

Love the new pictures! Just wanted to let you know that tiny prints (tinyprints.com) is raising money for EB research. If people purchase their "celebrity Holiday Cards" money will be donated to research. I will be ordering mine in honor of your family!
