nothing

I keep waiting for something exciting to post, but it never seems to happen, so here goes.. well... literally nothing.

It has been so hot here this week, Jonah has maybe made it out in the open air one or two times. I don't even think I've taken him in the car anywhere. Monday night I ran a few errands, Tuesday night I helped host a baby shower for a friend (not at my house), and today I went to the gym for about 45 minutes. So I haven't been getting out much either thus the lack of interesting blog fodder.

Jonah is doing well, although he refuses to eat at all by mouth. No yogurt. No nothing. Even our go-to's don't cut it anymore. In equally frustrating news, he's now learned to shake his head back and forth "no" when food is approaching his mouth. Good times. We have a speech pathologist coming Monday. I sure hope she can help because I am COMPLETELY out of ideas.

I mentioned I went to the gym today. And then I proceeded to eat pound cake and banana pudding. The end.

I really, really want to write a novel these last few days. Too bad I have no ideas and feel that all the creativity has been zapped from my body. I have no jokes, no funny ideas, no sarcasm. Nothing. I'm going soft. I'm friends with Bella's mom on Facebook, and she took some quiz on "how old you act." She got age 72. Yep, I know the feeling. Can you hear the monotone droning in my voice? Maybe those are just the voices in my head.

Jonah has discovered, this week, that crawling allows him the pleasure of getting into/doing things he shouldn't. This week he's almost gone head-first down the stairs, almost stuck his fingers in an electrical outlet, thrown his shoes in the trash can and pulled every blanket and burp cloth we have off of their shelf. I'm just thankful he hasn't discovered the toilets yet. Yes, friends, it's time to baby proof. His favorite pastime, apparently, is chewing on the metal trashcan downstairs. Did I mention that he has weak tooth enamel? Not good. He got popped for that one today.  Don't let him fool you. He knows what "no" means. He has a stubborn streak for sure. He must get that from his dad.

I just did a two page scrapbook spread. I haven't done any scrapbooking since way before Jonah was born. Two back-to-back pregnancies will do that to a girl. So anyway, yesterday I had the chance to finish a scrapbook I'd been wanting to complete for a while. The one with our wedding and honeymoon that occurred six years ago. What?

We are watching the new Star Trek movie. I'm not really paying attention. All I know is that Sylar (bad guy from Heroes) playing Spock (good guy in the movie) is not right. Demetri from Flash Forward is in it too. I feel that all my worlds are colliding.

We are currently dog sitting my brother's dog. He and Deac are best buds. They are currently humping one another. The excitement around here never ends.

That is all.

Sometimes "nothing exciting" is quite good enough! Thanks for letting us know all is well, though - as well as it can be when you have a crawling boy who chews on the trashcan!
Also - don't feel so bad about the scrapbooking. I haven't scrapbooked my wedding yet - and we're been married over 12 years! Gah! I have LOT of catching up to do! (I have done *some* for the kids and the grands - just not my own wedding, which happened before we owned a digital camera - ha!)

I even love your posts about "nothing." And sometimes, having nothing to say is better than having a whole lot to say about emergency prayer requests or everything that's going wrong. Thank God for giving us "nothing" sometimes! :)

hahahaha...I dont know if you meant this post to be comical, but it was a bit. Some days are very repetitious with a dash of dull thrown in, the joy in it is our kids...and our sense of humor to get us through it.

It sounds pretty NORMAL there!

And pat yourself on the back for getting your wedding scrapbook done already. We've been married 36 years, and I still haven't put our photo album together. I apparently don't see the need to rush things.

If you get too bored, come to Mountainbillyland and let Mr. J feed the catfish :)

Well, YOU might think you are not interesting, but I think your post is hilarious! You make it sound like you're in a "ho-hum" state of mind; but your sarcasm is priceless.
I had brain freeze tonight when writing my own blog post.... sometimes it happens. (Or maybe it was the ice cream giving me brain freeze.....).
Patrice, don't feel pressured to write something inspirational or funny or knowledgeable..... sometimes it's just good for us to know that you're human... just like the rest of us. Although I must say that I think you are truly "Super Woman". YOU don't see it, but the rest of us out here surely do!
Hang in there. Now, go watch your movie!

That's the funniest bunch of nothing I've ever read! Especially the part about the gym (SO there with you!) And don't even get me started on scrapbooking - each of my children has their own Rubbermaid tub o' memories. :)

Will pray that Jonah's appetite kicks back in - so glad he's exploring, though!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Love from TX!

YAY! So glad you posted! I know you must feel the "need" to blog sometimes...and I love when you update whether you think you have said something profound or not you almost always put a smile on my face. Will pray for Jonah and eating by mouth. And, welcome to the "toddler" world! With a 3 year old and 19 month old they are CONSTANTLY into something they shouldn't be in...like the other night and entire tube of overnight desitin was squeezed all into their hair, bed, a pile of dirty clothes, the wall, and the nightstand. We washed and washed...they had "crew" cuts the next day...that stuff isn't really removable. I was gone from the room for 3 minutes...long enough to retrieve a snuggle for night night and a sippy cup. Hope you have a great weekend.

You're so funny, Patrice. Another person's "nothing" is always wildly more interesting than our own "nothing." Will you share some of the scrapbook pages you just made? I'm a new reader and would love to see/read the story of your wedding!

Patrice,

Nothing said it all...you crack me up. The part about the gyn & then cake & banana pudding -isn't that the way it is supposed to be ? :)

Welcome to toddler world...the things Jonah will discover..will turn you hair gray or make it fall out.

Maybe the weekend will bring some excitement--leave Jonah at home with daddy & have some girl fun.

God knows when we need those "nothing" days/weeks.

Prayers for Jonah to eat, but it is almost too hot to eat.

He will turn it around.

Love ya--I am gone to the beach!!!!

I hate to disillusion you, but even with "nothing", you are still very funny!! Hope things cool off a bit so that you can get outside!

And you thought you had nothing to share ;) dogs humping and Jonah ripping your house apart make interesting reading....really. It's always fun to hear your humour...I hope the weather cools down so you and Jonah can get out..even if it's for a little walk in the stroller. A stroller walk does wonders for a hum drum day.

Loved your post. Sometimes just the everyday is beautiful.

And, I chuckled when I read about the gym -- sounds like me!

I have all good intents to scrapbook. However, life is keeping me too busy. I have tons of pictures. I just need to get the digital ones printed. Ackk!! They are all on my computer.

Blessings to you!!

I do remember the days of toddlers and not getting out a lot and I know the heat adds to your inability to get out much. Has Jonah discovered the dog dishes yet? I recall my kids all loved dog food and drinking out of the water dish.

I hope the three of you have a good weekend.
