tough guy

This is one tough and resilient little guy...

... but once in a while, even tough guys have to take a snooze on their Granny.

Things are still okay. Jonah just had some morphine about an hour ago and did seem to be in some pain. He's still sleeping this way now. His "voice" is very raspy, so we're trying to decide if this is the normal "I was just intubated" sort of raspiness or if he's having some airway inflammation and/or blistering. Please continue to be in prayer for that issue. It's the thing we've been most concerned about since we started thinking about this decision months and months and months ago.

Definitely praying for you all. What great news on how he is doing so soon post surgery though. I'm sure the morphine is helping him too :)

Forgot to ask, has he had anything to eat or drink by mouth since his surgery?

praying that the raspiness only has to do with his being intubated and not from blistering.

I wouldn't worry about the "raspy" voice; I had it myself after surgery as well; the tube they put down your throat(as well as the anesthetic gases) during surgery for breathing is very irritating.Having a "froggy" voice afterwards is normal.
I'm so relieved it went well; I was praying! ♥

Praying! Praising God for protecting him!

He looks just like our little man did after his 2 huge operations. He would play a little and then sleep. He had 2 huge incisions. We will keep praying.

You should tell Jonah that it isn't fair to be that stinkin' cute. Really, he should share that cuteness with the rest of us.

Still praying.........

Praise God! I will pray that his incision heals well and that there is no blistering from the intubation.

I love Granny's face. I think he definately has her wrapped around his finger. :-) I'm so excited that everything went well, and I'll be praying for his voice to get better quickly. My daughter's was that way when she was intubated, so hopefully it is not blistering and just the normal hoarseness.

I feel the need to post a comment (finally) as I have been praying for Jonah today and was so happy to read that his surgery went well. I have been following your blog for some time now. I think I found it through a Raleigh/Durham area message board (prayer request for Jonah), not long after Jonah was born. It caught my attention because my son is just a couple weeks older than Jonah and I have been following along occasionally ever since. I am always inspired by you, your strength, your faith, your honesty (especially on your bad days, as so many of us have a tendency to always want everything to "look" good and easy). And Jonah is just such cutie. I love seeing his little face each time you post a picture - and he always makes me smile. My 4.5 y old daughter often comments about his pictures and will ask about his "boo-boos" and its been good to use it as a learning moment for her. Now she recognizes his pictures if I'm reading your blog. Just wanted you to know that your blog is a blessing - and that others are reading and learning about EB. We will continue to pray for him and a cure for EB. God Bless!
