PLEASE help us get the word out

Jonah has been asleep IN HIS BED for over an hour and a half.

Can we all just take a moment?

Ahhhhh, that's better.
************************************

The real purpose of this post is to ask for your help.
Jonah's EB Auction is quickly approaching, and we need major help getting the word out. To catch those of you up who may be out of the auction loop, my friend Katie is hosting an online auction (of LOTS of great stuff) in honor of Jonah's upcoming First Birthday to raise money for a DebRA to help fund a cure. Here are the details.

When all of this was just a gleam in her eye, Katie was hoping we would get 20 items for the auction. Well the response has been so amazing (and completely overwhelming... in a good way), we find ourselves with around 100 items up for bid. This is great! And frankly, a little scary. Because without enough people to actually bid on the items, the fundraising fundraiser becomes a little more challenging.

So could you help us?

If you hop on over to the greatness that is
Jonah's EB Auction Site, you can see ways you can help spread the word (blogging about it and linking back up to the auction site, adding the auction button to your sidebar, and becoming a fan of the auction group on Facebook) all for a chance to win a Target Gift Card (rude starers not included...).

AND because you love Jonah (and Gabe and Tripp and Leah and Sam and on and on and on...)

AND because you hate EB.

So please stop by the Auction Blog to see how you can help us advertise the auction and get yourself entered to win. And tell your friends and family - bug, harass, be completely relentless... all in the name of Jonah. I give you permission.

I mean, it might even help me get out of my funk.
(Oh man, Patrice, that was a low blow... No you didn't.)

Love you guys so much. Thanks :)

You don't know me, but I came across your blog somehow some months back and am just drawn to your baby and baby Tripp. My daughter who is 7 looked at the pictures of your baby tonight and said, 'mom, he's so cute'. Just wanted you to know that some of us think your little boy is beautiful. Keep encouraged!

looking foward to the auction.

Just wanted to let you know that when I look at pictures of your son, I am drawm to his bright blue eyes and wonderful smile, the blisters always come after those wonderful traits. I hope others see his wonderful spirit, like I do.

My daughter was born with 75 birthmarks on her head. Multiple surgeries and tissue expanders only added to her unique look. Taking her out was always a challenge. Stares and questions were inevitable. My mom didn't believe me, so I sent her to the mall with my daughter, well she lasted about 15 minutes, before getting to frustrated to stay.

My responses always depended on my mood and the way that questions were asked. Honest questions I tried to answer honsetly. Stupid questions I tried to ignore. My most sarcastic response was when I was asked how retarded my daughter was and I responded, "far less than you". It can be trying to take a child, who appears different out in public, but don't let it stop you.

I was once asked to leave a major department store, because the staff thought that my child was scaring other customers. I was told that they would pull clothes for me and that I could come back after hours, so not to cause a scene. I immediatley dropped the clothes that I was holding and walked out and have never returned to that store.

Please know that many people look/stare because your child is different and don't know what to say. Their heart is usually in the right place, they just handle it poorly. I hope that as your son grows, his strength will allow him to teach others about his condition and allow others to see the gift that he is.

I hope that your spirits lift and the funk you are in moves away. No one can know what you go through daily, except God.

thank you for continuing to share your story and allowing us to watch your son grow.

Cindy

I added the button to my blog! Yeah! I don't have much, but I hope to be able to help in some way with bidding on an item.
I'm not a blog wizard or anything like that, but just to help those that are needing help posting the button:
1. Copy the information in the little white box below the button for the auction blog. You can do this by highlighting it, right clicking, and then selecting Copy.
2. Go to blogger and log into your account. Go to Layout and then where it says "html code", hit the plus sign. Then, on the sidebar you will click "Add a Gadget." In the large white box, you will paste the code you copied in step 1. You can paste easily by right clicking in that box and then selecting Paste. Save it and you are done! People will then see the button on your side bar, will be able to click on it, and it will take them directly to the auction site.
Note: don't copy the picture in step 1. Copy the characters in that white box.

I haven't read your blog in a few days and I am just catching up on all things Jonah!!

I have to tell you that it is refreshing to hear your honesty. Granted, I wish for you only happiness and certainly not the "funk" that you are experiencing. But as a women, wife, mom, and someone that is grieving (we lost a baby a few weeks ago) it is helpful to see that others remain strong in their faith, but don't always "like" or understand the path that they are being led down.

I certainly will get the "word out" about the auction, can't wait to see all the fun stuff you guys have lined up. And I will also pray that this "funk" will lift and that you will be able to focus on all the joy that surrounds you and sweet Jonah!!

Blessings!!
