a jonah funny

So ever since I got pregnant with Gabe and then started this blog, I've dreamed of the day I would get to blog about my kids' funnies. You know what I'm talking about right? All the crazy things that kids say and do, how clever they are (albeit unintentionally)... all the good stuff that makes the day to day drone just... BEAUTIFUL.

Like...

When Matt was little and was in line at the grocery store, his mom had bought some sanitary napkins. Matt saw them going down the belt, gasped, and said (very loudly), "MOM, do you have bladder control problems???"

Or the time I stuck my tongue out at my mom (I was probably three years old), so she popped me. And then, through my tears (don't you feel so sorry for me?), I said, "My mind wants to say you're a mean mommy, but I won't."

And I know Jonah can't talk yet or anything, but man, oh man, I think we're gonna get some good ones.

So here is my first Jonah Funny.

On Friday, Kathryn had come over and we put Jonah in his little chair in front of Little Bear so that we could eat some lunch (because Heaven Forbid the child actually take a nap). Anyway, he wasn't acting at all interested, and was looking around everywhere but the television, so I said, "Okay, Jonah, if you're not going to watch your show, we're going to turn it to something we want to watch." And I turned it to Everybody Loves Raymond. Then he started looking at the remote and grunting (such a man), so I handed him the remote control to play with. And within just a minute or so, Kathryn and I looked up and Little Bear was back on the TV and Jonah was just staring at it, completely enthralled. He had apparently hit the Previous button on the remote to get it back to his show.

I guess he told us.

Are males genetically imprinted to need to hold the televison remote? This is very cute--Matt may have competition in his future.

That is too funny! Camden is constantly playing with the remotes and pointing them at the tv. He changes the channel and also can work the tivo remote. Of course, he has also broken the tivo remote!

Sounds like he's gonna have the laptop figured out at an early age too! Just you wait.

I adore Little Bear. It was his favorite when he was a little guy. Your Jonah is a smart man!

okay. The bladder control story is hilarious! Just remember though, it seems that the "sins" of the father are visited on the children :) Just wait and watch to see how Jonut will thoroughly embarrass his father when he can talk!!! LOL

That is funny. Recently our Avery has decided that if the TV is on, its time for Baby Einstein. So she grabs the DVD and hands it to you. If you do not start Baby Einstein she gets, well lets say somewhat upset. :)

Yeah, it's really cute until it becomes deliberate defiance!

Well i just have to tell you my little Kristen funny.. Kristen was 2 and we were in the grocery store in the bakery section near all the birthday cakes and stuff. She proceeds to ask for a birthday cake to which i reply your birthday is in January(it was August at the time)so its not time for your birthday cake. She then screams at the top of her lungs its my birthday and my mom won't buy me a birthday cake! I get a whole bunch of dirty looks and the elderly couple came up to me and said they would purchase her one if I could not afford it. I laughed and actually had to pull out her birth certificate to prove her birthday was not even close!!!She loves to hear this story!!! Helen Sullivan

What is it with males and the remote! It must be in their genes.

I sure Matt is so proud of his boy. Our little "helper" will hand you the remote and move your finger to press the buttons because we told him not to press them. At least he listens for now.

I cannot WAIT to hear all the Jonah Funnies. He is going to be such an addition to all the funny storytelling! Let's hope he inherits Matt and Gerry's deadpan-but-littered-with-giggles delivery. They get me every time.

Clearly, Matt has already begun instructing his son in the most important male survival skills, lol! Jonah's a fast learner too.

Patrice,
Hello! I've never visited your blog before and am not really sure how I ended up here, but your story has touched my heart as does the joy you are finding in the little things. Your son is such a precious gift! Many blessings to you,
