jonah update

Can you believe Mom was so busy complaining about her (stupid) computer yesterday she didn't even blog about me???

Oh no...

... she didn't.

Somehow, someway, eating only 16-20 ounces a day, I managed to gain six ounces from last week. Thursday morning, when the nurse came, I made sure to save up my poop until after she weighed me. I also decided to eat 190 cc's (almost six and a half ounces) right before she walked in the door. So my input was A LOT more than my output at the moment she weighed me. I'm smart like that.

Mom says to tell you I'm doing a little better with solids. I told her I didn't want to talk about it. She said I better tell you, and she used her mean voice, so fine. Whatever. I'm doing better with solids, blah, blah, blah. Basically she means I'm not clamping my mouth as tight as I was last week. And sometimes I'll take a half an ounce of yogurt or peas or carrots, but not consistently. We tried peaches for the first time the other day, and I haven't decided yet. Mom really likes peaches. Dad thinks they're totally gross. I haven't decided whose side I'm on yet. Mom says I can side with Dad if I want to but that I better remember who gets all the poopy off my butt and plays with me all day... "if I know what's good for me," she says.

Somebody better call Social Services. She's been in quite the mood the last couple days.

Kathryn came yesterday afternoon and helped us get out of the house. Where do you think Mom chose to go?

That's right, Target.

Kathryn got her flu shot after Mom's recommendation. Mom got hers there this past Monday. It's really easy. You just go fill out a form (just like you would for a prescription), go do your shopping, and then they call you back, and it takes about five minutes. Mom said it didn't hurt at all, but she's a liar. I had to get two. They hurt. Don't believe her. She sits on a throne of lies.

I'm also napping like a champ this week. I've taken two to three hour naps every day this week except on Monday and Friday when we were running around. Mom says, "Glory Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus." I don't see what the big deal is. She tends to be overdramatic.

Anyway, you guys asked for an update, so I hijacked Mom's blog to appease the people.

We're having an uneventful weekend, just hanging around the house. We really want to make it to church tomorrow, but it's always touch and go (will I eat? will my dressings be too messed up? will I poop all over my leg bandages warranting immediate dressing change? will I have a gusher right before we walk out the door?) with me. But I miss hearing Mr. Bill preach hanging out crying in the lobby, so I hope we get to go.

Hope you guys are having a good weekend too.

(Mom says she wants to decorate the house for Halloween, so we may be making another Target run. I really like Target. Mom's so glad. She was afraid I was going to be a Walmart boy. And she knew she just couldn't handle that... She says she won't have to disown me now.)

Patrice,

You crack me up. I think you are amazing.

Jonah,

I am so glad that you gained weight! Please try to eat more food.. I know sometimes you are in pain and sometimes you aren't that hungry, but you gotta eat. I'm praying that you will eat more and more so that you continue growing and that you will stay as healthy as possible. Good luck with the peaches - I'm on your Dads side. (Sorry Patrice!)

Praying for you guys like crazy,

Megan

First time commenting, looong time reading... don't know why. I'm lame like that, I guess.
Anyhow.
Love the picture of Jonah- what a cute face! You are so funny and I'm living vicariously through your recent Target visit. I'm at home with my three kiddos and suffering through my fourth time of awful "morning" sickness. Haven't been to Target in -gasp!- over a month. Sad, I know.
I just love checking in on your sweet family and you three are consistently in my prayers.

Thanks for the laugh and cute picture of Jonah. My four year old screamed to his room that he had pooped himself about 15 minute before I read this so I was in a crappy mood. (pun intended) Thanks for the update. Glad to hear Jonah is gaining weight.

Patrice, you crack me up! I'm so happy to hear the little Jonut (love that nickname) is gaining weight and taking a little bit of solids. He is the most precious thing. One baby step at a time, Jonah. You can do it little man!

Love, Brittany

LOL...Jonah, you have totally inherited your mommy's great sense of humor :) Glad to hear you got out of the house and made it to Target. I too share your love of Target, especially because we have a Starbucks in ours. 2 of my favorite places all contained in 1 space. Heaven!

I'll say some prayers that you make it to church! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thanks for the update Jonah. A new Target just opened up about a mile from our house. Just between you and me I'll be honest and admit we've been there 4 times in the past 2 days.

By the way, from the time my little boy was about 7 months old he would not eat solids. He was like you and would close his lips and would also usually spit at us. We finally realized he just wanted to feed himself. And so since them he ate no baby food except cereal (and that was hit and miss) and we just found little tiny pieces of soft food he could feed himself. Maybe you could suggest that to your mom (or maybe not :))? We're praying you'll keep gaining weight! :)

Jonah: I already love your taste in movies, little man. The "Elf" reference was spot-on. You must get that comedic instinct from your mother. :)

Glad to hear you're doing well!

Dear Jonah, You are quite the little jokester are you? I sure think that you are so precious. I love looking at the pictures that your precious mom takes of you. I am so thankful that you have such great parents AND I am so glad that you are a Target kind of guy. I sure love Target too. Keep up the good work on the eating and trust me, you will one day love you some solid food! Oh yeah - I am praying for you and for your sweet moma and daddy. Love, Jeanne

That post had me giggling. A lot of them do. Anyhoo, glad Jonah is continually growing at a good rate. He's adorable and amazing. By the way, that video you posted of his reaction to the camera was hilarious. It was as if he was trying to get some kind of message out.

I just love the face you were giving mommy in your picture Jonah. You keep eating those solids, they are good for you. I think I am going to side with Mom on the peaches. They are yummy. Daddy does not know what he is talking about. I am praying that your a good boy this morning (sunday morning 6:53am) for mommy and daddy and your able to go to church.

Patrice,
I am praying for your family. I thank god that he has been gaining weight even though he is not taking a whole lot in. I am sure it will pick up. His picture is just so cute. It looks like he has a mouth full of food or drink in there ready to spit it out. I am glad you made it to Target and that Jonah loves going. I have to admit I would rather be at Target than Walmart.

Jonah,
Those baby blues melted my heart-not to mention the perfect expression to let us know just how you were feeling about mom's shameless neglect of you in her blog. What was she thinking! In her defense-I have had days when I have been so intent on a computer (dell) issue that I really empathisize with her-maybe we can get a group discount on those Apples!
I I know that there are times when mommy and daddy feel overwhelmed and despairing-and you are in pain-but you have brought a depth of love and meaning in to their lives that they could not have imagined. I continue to pray for the miracle of a cure for you-and that the joy you bring to all who love you and the love that surrounds you, will sustain and uplift you all. When the cure for EB is found, there will be a celebration heard 'round the world'-and that will be thanks to the awareness your mom and dad have created about it. Life is hard, but with Love, Faith and the Strength of God, family, friends and even those strangers who care so deeply-it is the most amazing journey. Thank you for being a humbling part of my journey. You are awesome!

Jonut,
You are going to have to write a book someday. You are a very funny boy. Shots do hurt...don't listen to the lies. I'm glad you are doing better and I'm glad you took Mommy to Target. Halloween is going to be so fun this year!
Be good and eat those foods.
Love to you all.

This was so funny to read, I had to laugh so much. Jonah, keep up the good work of eating solids. And peaches are amazing I have to agree. There's a whole world of fruit and veg you have not tried just hang in there ;-)

I know all about the crying in the lobby at church thing. I hope they have speakers piped into there for you! I actually loved it when my babies cried. I'd wander a bit and find myself in the kitchen and then sneak a cookie. (Shhh!) I considered it fair compensation.

Ahhh...I LOVE your posts...I'm a tad behind but I just love reading them. I LOVE Target too, can never get enough of that fun store, it makes me SO happy to shop there...unlike Walmart or K-mart...those two DEPRESS me to shop there. Glad Jonut is doing so well AND that he's napping for you...woot woot! Sorry to hear about your stupid computer. My husband wants a desktop MAC sooo bad (a buddy of mine SWEARS by those!)...however, I'd like a laptop for my business and I'll definitely keep the MAC in mind. Hope it improves for you. Take care and hugs to you all! :O)

Lovin' that photo of Jonah! Perfect caption. Good thing to cheer me up after my 2 year old just threw a monster fit while waiting for an oil change.
