at the fair

On the way to the fair... Jonah with his puke coverage.

It took us an hour to get to the fair and get parked. Between First Saturday Fair Traffic and the Wake vs. State game, traffic and especially parking were horrendous. Thankfully, we found people parking cars in their yard for $5 right across the street from one of the entrances.

Peyton (my big bro) waiting with the kids across the street.

Cousins. Ainsley was VERY interested in entertaining Baby Jonut. And she's the one, by the way, who came up with that nickname. But she thinks it's his real name.

Jonah, me, and Aunt Sarah waiting in the shade while some of the others stood in line for entry tickets... took at least thirty minutes.

Jonah waiting (semi) patiently. (Don't ask me why his face is so bad again these last few days... I have NO idea.)
A group shot taken after dinner.
Shaina and Sarah (the two dweebs) waiting in line for the Ferris Wheel (or the Phyllis Wheel as Ainsley called it.)

A group shot at the Phyllis Wheel. Shaina, her friend Caroline, Amy (my SIL), Peyton, Sarah, Asher, and Ainsley were the only ones who rode. Mom, Matt, Jonah, and I waited on the ground. Jonah was reclined in his stroller and enjoyed staring up at the wheel.

I think this shot of Shaina is hilarious.

One of my favorites - Peyton and Asher walking to the Jeeps ride.

Asher and Ainsley driving.

And finally, Jonah getting tired. A lot of times Matt walks him at night while I'm getting his bottles ready etc. And when Jonah is tired you can tell because he squishes his face up against Matt's and holds his finger. It's totally cute. And as you'll notice, the crazy eyes have begun. This photo immediately preceeded the pumpkin photo. It was the last thing we did on our way out.

It was a great but tiring day. I think it would have been easier if the crowds had not been so heavy and it hadn't taken us so long to get there, parked, and inside. Still, it was extremely nice to be out and about, and Jonah loved having so much to look at. He got recognized by "strangers" a couple times. It still blows my mind that he's (sort of but not really) famous. People are so nice to him. It makes my heart happy.
I'm thankful we live in a city large enough to have a decent fair. No offense to Greenville (NC) or anything, but their fair is lacking. It's nice to be back in our home town where we have a real fair and a real mall (not a shopping center calling itself a mall).
*****************************************************
We've had another busy day today, but that will have to be another post. I'm way tired, and I have to get the photos from Shaina. I forgot my camera!
Have a great week!

Hey Patrice- I don't comment often but ready daily :) I just noticed you thought that Jonah's face was not looking too good and I saw the picture (before reading your comment) and thought it was looking really good! Glad to see you all had a wonderful day! God knows you deserve it!

Looks like you had fun. I was in Raleigh last weekend. The weather was beautiful when we were there. Did you have nice weather. I go to Raleigh every few months to visit my brothers family. I love North Carolina!

Whoa! I didn't even know Greenville had a fair. I was pleased with the Watermelon Festival in Winterville! Oh, and I'm totally with ya on the "mall" thing!

Jonah is such a cutie. Those eyes and lips get me every time! It looks like it was a great day, and I'm so happy to see that you were able to get out with your family and do some "normal", fun family things.

1) That shirt makes his eyes look SO BLUE! I mean, they always look blue, but that shirt REALLY brings it out!

2) Congrats on The Big Win! As we were watching the scores scroll across the screen last night, I squealed and said, "Matt and Patrice are so happy right now!"

3) Love you!

How awesome that you all got to get out! We used to do the same for puke coverage for anything special we wanted to do.
I think his eyes get brighter and brighter...so pretty!

He is SO precious! And you said that his face is getting worse? Funny....I don't notice anything (being completely honest) on his face - just those eyes and how absolutely ADORABLE he is! I see pictures of Jonah and just think what a sweetheart, puke and all :-) HAHA!

Looks & sounds like you had a wonderful time at the fair. Jonah is precious, I would have loved to have watched him watching everything going on around him..all the noise, actions & people.

Of course Jonah is famous...all the newspaper stories & all the Jonah buttons/magnets. I consider Jonah the greatest person I have every met face-to-face.(most adorable too)

I noticed in the family pictures you & your siblings have the same smile as your mom..how awesome. I hope that dinner had some hot dogs, fries, fried dough & other good fair treats included

I am so happy that everything went well & you were able to enjoy the fair & family time. Sounds like a great weekend. Hope this week goes good, it is supposed to stay cool so maybe somemore outside time for you & jonah (dad too).

Jonah's eyes were just looked like he was excited..wouldn't have known he was tired if you hadn't given his secret away.

Love, prayers & hugs

Thanks for posting about the fair! My family is taking our daughter later this week, and having never been, it was interesting to get a "sneak peek"!

I was one of the "strangers" that came and talked to Jonah. It made me so happy to finally get to meet him. He is a precious baby boy, and as I told Matt, he looks so much like his Mom! May God continue to inspire you with your posts. As I told you, God has used you in a mighty way. Thanks for being a willing vessel. God bless. Tammy
