ten reasons i love...

Chick-Fil-A

1. They will replace the toy in the kid's meal with ice cream. Suuuh-weet.

2. They say "My pleasure" instead of "You're welcome." I mean anybody can say "You're welcome" without even thinking about it. It takes some real thought, effort, and caring to say "My pleasure."

3. They give Deac doggy treats when we go through the drive-thru.

4. Their sweet tea is PERFECT. (You northerners wouldn't understand. Just take my word for it. Unsweet tea is dead to me. I don't understand the point of its existence.)

5. They have Diet Dr. Pepper. - The Master of all diets.

6. Everything on the menu is good, particularly the 8-piece nuggets (yes, specifically the 8-piece), the cool caesar wrap, and the chicken salad sandwich (although it doesn't come with tomato... WHAT are they thinking?)

7. Their fries are waffle style. Other flimsy, chewy fries pale in comparison. A fry's surface area directly corresponds to its flavor potency. The larger the area, the better the fry.

8. The Polynesian sauce is dang tasty. (True, Polynesian sauce is just a fancy way of saying Sweet and Sour Sauce, but something about the elegant name just makes it taste better.)

9. It is the closest fast food place to my house and within two minutes of Target. A girl just couldn't ask for more.

10. They are closed on Sunday to give employees a day of rest and the opportunity to go to church. (I think this is an awesome idea until it's Sunday, and I'm cravin' me some Chick-Fil-A. Then, not so much.)

Hey!! That post is really bugging me!! We talk about chick fil a a lot here!! I LOVE that place, but we dont have it in Germany! I only get it when I am in the states visiting. And then again if I am visiting my aunt in Wyoming I dont get it either, I get it in Texas though and could eat it EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!

Over here all stores are closed sundays! That something we are used to. Well I guess fast food chains arent closed but all grocery stores, malls, etc are closed! And saturdays the most stores close early too! I dont think they will ever change that here!!

So I hope you can eat some for me too!!!

I too LOVE Chick-Fil-A (although, embarrassingly, I am kinda boring and always just order the original Chick-Fil-A sandwich - with sweet tea of course).

I had NO idea, there were doggie treats to be given out, before commenting, I had to go apologize to Kali for depriving her of treats - I think we'll hit the drive thru tomorrow just for her!

mary said...

Amen, sister! Our Chick-Fil-A even has a hostess who comes around and asks if you want a refill throughout your meal! And the Purell wipes by the kids' play area... And the complimentary mints... You should give the "Chick-Fil-A Sauce" a try too -- it's a fancy creamy honey mustard. Yum!

And the free kids' meals on kids' night...

I fully agree with EVERYTHING you just said :) Sadly, there are no Chick fil A's in Canada :( so sad. But any time we drive by one in the states- no matter the time of day- we eat :)

I'm a first time commenter but can't resist this one--my husband has been an employee of CFA for almost nine years, and we're obviously huge fans as well. The most hilarious thing about being married to a CFA manager is that he has completely lost the words "You're Welcome" from his vocabulary. Out and about, in our house, anywhere we are, someone says thank you, and out pops, "MY PLEASURE!!" I love it. I also love that I've been craving chicken sandwiches here in my 1st trimester, so my husband has grown quite used to daily "Bring preggo wife sandwiches!!" text messages. :)

I ALWAYS get a large diet Dr. Pepper when I go to Chick-fil-A! It is absolutely the best!!! I'm a big fan of the spicy chicken wrap if going for healthy, or the original chicken sandwich and waffle fries if I just don't care. YUM!

Amen sista! I love me some Chick-fil-A! I love me some sweet tea too! Up north when you ask for a sweet tea, they tell you the sugar is on the table! They have no clue! I love that they have the bendy straws for the kids and mine also has the plastic placemats that stick to the tables for my son! Chick-fil-A ROCKS!!

TOTALLY agree with this post. I love it even more after having a baby. They are so helpful when your hands are full, include a plastic cover for the table in the meals, etc.... And I totally agree with the sweet tea, Dr. DP, and 8 piece nuggets - my faves too. ANd the Sunday thing - totally respect it, but don't always like it when I want it on a Sunday!!!

I live in Goldsboro, NC I have a real passion for Chick-fil-a and I LOVE LOVE LOVE their sandwiches and mayonnaise. And yeah, their sweet tea is wonderful. I'm really picky about my sweet tea too!

p.s. I have fallen in love with Jonah as thousands and thousands of others have and I "check in on him" everyday. I have prayed for you and yours several times and I will continue to do so. God Bless!

GIRRRRRL, you know you're preachin' to the choir with this one. I'm sure you noticed that I mentioned the peach milkshakes last week in a post. AND, if I haven't already told you, we're getting one in our Target parking lot in the fall. AHEM, I'm sorry, our SUPERTARGET. Woo hoo!!

Chick-Fil-A is so yummy! We don't have any up here in Washington, but I love to have it when I visit family in Texas.

Thanks. Now I'm eating Chik-fil-A for dinner. I dropped by to check-in a few minutes ago while we were pondering over what to eat. And there was my answer. Although, I have to say that CFA sauce is way better than Polynesian. So my meal will ultimately be better tahn yours.

Nathan also wanted me to let you know that he concurs with your thinking that Diet DP is the master of all diets.

Lauren said...

also love the diet dr. pepper. one of the few places that has it, but oh so good.

don't forget the fruit salad!

and our preacher mentioned chick-fil-a specifically a couple of weeks ago as we were doing a sermon series on the 10 commandments and had gotten to "keep the sabbath holy." though there are some sundays where i wish they were open, but i totally respect it. we got a handful of coupons that were only good at crabtree valley CFA after a youth conference and had plans to eat there on the way home--then realized it was a sunday and that plan backfired. oh well...i think those are still around here somewhere...

aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (in a good way) - I'm now craving Chick-Fil-A! Love that SWEET TEA!
CFA is about the only place I've ever been that I think doesn't need more customer service training (and I'm kinda picky since that's part of what I used to do when I worked full time....). There are four within easy driving distance of my house (I know, spoiled!), and I even have those ranked in order of favorites. Yep, just a little spoiled when it comes to CFA.

I KNEW we would be friends in real life! All the things I love about Chick-Fil-A!!!! Let me add one more...for the little ones, they give you these stickon place mats to put on the table where they eat...so it is sanitary! That's my favorite of all! =)

I think #10 should be #1 but I am just saying. I love your list and agree so much with almost all of it. I like that when you do keep the kid's meal toy it is not usually junk. It is usually (gasp!) educational! I know the Chic Fil A you are talking about and the Target (from my "western part of the state days) so that is fun to picture! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the video of Jonah. That is about the sweetest thing I have seen in a long time. Thanks for sharing Patrice and for allowing us to be part of this wonderous journey your family is on. Jennifer in Southeast, NC.

I, too, had a post dedicated to CFA not too long ago (as did Katherine). There are so many delightful things about CFA....it is almost too much to handle. Have you seen the Tim Hawkins video on You Tube? You MUST see it.....hilarious. I posted it on my blog last month.

Must add my other "top reasons" for loving CFA:

(fairly) low calorie (actually, the most low fat fast food out there), Chick fil A sauce (ahhhh may zing)!, Lemonade!!! the Shakes!

Crazy delicious!!!

The Alger Family said...

I don't think I've ever heard of the Chik-fil-A. We must not have them up here in tundra land! Sounds good though!

Anonymous said...

Ok, I am so sad no one has mentioned how amazing their diet lemonade is! I live on it in the summer. I also love their spicy dressing, I cant seem to find any sold in a grocery store that compares. :O(

When I was pg with my first son I craved their waffle fries and hot sauce. Every doctors appointment I would stop on my way and pick me up some! YUM!

Cyndee said...

Have you seen the Tim Harkins Chick fil-A video? Hysterical!! On a more serious note, we are such addicts that we have actually become friends with "our" Chick fil-A owners. Our baby grandson died recently, and they were kind enough to donate trays of food to his memorial service. They are the best in every way!

I would agree except for the fact they use peanut oil to cook in and my daughter has a peanut allergy.

Interesting that chick-fil-a is also in front of our Target here in G'vegas. Haven't been there in a while, but all these posts have me craving the waffle fries! CFA is one of my favorite places to eat! I worked at one in high school and never got tired of eating it! And we LOVE trading toys for ice cream, because (as I know you'll soon find out!) you will look around your house one day and find that you've been overtaken by kids meal toys!

We eat at CFA at least once a week - I'm partial to the #1 with a large Diet DP, but have also lately become a huge fan of their chicken strips!

...wow, is it sad that I can go on for days about fast food? Probably, but oh well!

Glad to know we both have great taste in food!

Love,

I agree with all of those except for the tomato - yuck! Polynesian is my fave!

I have 3 to add for the future:

1. Kids eat free on Tuesday nights!

2. If you have your hands full of baby and stuff, they bring the food to your table.

3. When Jonah is older and eating table food, they will give you/put down a disposable table mat (sticks to the table) for a clean eating surface.

It's bitter sweet that they're NOT opened on Sundays. I bet that's God's way of telling me that I need to stick to my diet :0).......Yes, yes, yes, I could order the fruit or something more healthy, BUT those WAFFLE FRIES with that DELICIOUS Polynesian sauce are to DIE FOR!!! :0)

I LOVE Chick-fil-a. The people are wonderful.

I went one morning on my way into work (at like 6am) and the lady on the drive-thru speaker was soo friendly and cheerful. When I got up to the window I said she was too cheerful for as early in the morning it was; but she just smiled.

One of the managers always makes the rounds seeing if people want a refill or something additional with their meal. The other day I even saw her bring a credit card receipt with a sandwhich... guess someone else wanted an additional one with their meal.

Also - I have never received a messed up meal. I have gone thru the drive-thru a time or two and got home w/o the condiments, but I tend to forget to ask for 'em :)

Oh - and since I use the drive-thru 99% of the time they are always very quick. I'll need to take the doggies with me next time to get treats.

And last thing - we drove by one on a Sunday after church; and there was a car sitting in the drive-thru window and they seemed to be getting ticked, it really cracked me up.

Hilarious and true. My grandmother, who passed away last year, thought there was nothing better than a hot off the presses chick-fil-a sandwich. She would ask them to cook her one right there and if she got one that wasn't steamin' then she would take it back for a super-fresh one. I come from good stock.

I had Chick-Fil-A for the first time ever last week on vacation in Florida and I LOVED IT!!! I loved everything about it (even that they are closed on Sunday - which I didn't know until we were in the drive-thru line on a Sunday) and I made my family go back 2 more times. My favorite part was the extremely fresh garden salad. It was nothing like a salad I've had at any other fast food comapny. I felt like I owed them more money because it was so good. I wish we had one closer to home!!!

I love CFA because of their generosity for fundraisers. One of our school families is a franchise owner and donates hundreds of CFA box lunches for the school's annual golf tournament (just one example). Plus, I enjoy the CFA samples at the mall, yum!

Couldn't resist! This native Georgian (now New Yorker) just has to say "Amen!" to your 10 reasons. About 95% of the time, my first stop out of the Atlanta airport is Chick-fil-A. And coming from a long line of diabetics (and that means no sweet tea for me), I'm especially thankful for the Diet Dr. Pepper.

You guys are in our prayers. Andrew gave me a short update yesterday.

Amen! Just got back from Chick-Fil-A about 2 hours ago! I am addicted! We went 3 years without them while we lived in Germany and since we got back in February I think we've been there a total of 20 times. Kind of embarrassing huh? Hee hee!
