date night

Matt and I enjoyed our night hour and fifteen minutes out. We left the house around 5:45 and were back by a little after 7. We went to one of the best restaurants ever, were too full for dessert, and well, to tell you the truth, I missed Jonah. And he knew I left him, people. He stared me down when I got back. I told him it was all daddy's fault. He forced me to go. I had nothing to do with it. Honestly.

(Don't worry. He showed me. Although he had already been bathed and dried, he proceeded to mega-spit up - twice - morphine and all - all over himself, warranting a second bath and a medication free dressing change. Good times.)

On our way...

One of my favorite restaurants (we had to go ALL the way to Greensboro, oh the humanity)...

The BEST salad (and bread!) ever...

Teriyaki Club Steak with loaded mashed potatoes...

Teriyaki on steak??!! No, Patrice, that doesn't sound very good. Oh, young grasshopper, ye of little faith. Just try it. Long gone are the days of teriyaki being only for the chickens. Teriyaki is the new A1. Take my word for it. I don't play around when it comes to food. And whenever you're ready to live on the edge, medium-well butterflied is the way to go. Consider yourself schooled.

I am SO happy that you got a night out- although it is hard to be away from your little boy, it is SO important to keep bonding with your hubby- your marriage is the firm foundation of your family :)
ps. the steak looks amazing!
Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

So glad the both of you got out, even for a short time. Babies are born with a degree in psychology! They KNOW how to PLAY with your emotions from day 1...fragile babies as well as healthy babies.
Jonah already has you right where he wants you:) i mean that in the best kinda way.

This post makes me really want Logan's right now and their cinnamon butter! We went all the time when we lived in NC and GA but we're now living in Alaska and we don't have anywhere to eat like that at all.
I enjoy reading your blog. Your son is so precious! Your faith is a testimony to what God can do through us even during the hardest times. Thank you for sharing your journey!

Oh I miss home now, especially after you wrote about going all the way to Greensboro. My family lives in Eden!!! We are a military family stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Someone was telling me once that dating is really for married people, not singles. After all its usually when we put our best foot forward and get a break from "reality" And well we just need that sometimes. But I can so relate to the missing feeling!!!!

Yum! I think we have a Logan's here, but we've never been. Jeff (my hubby) is EXTREMELY partial to Macaroni Grill, so that's usually where we end up on our date nights!

We're supposed to go out tonight, but we're getting really bad storms here in McKinney (just north of Dallas), so it's pretty iffy that our babysitters will be able to come. Rats!

So glad you had fun, and don't worry - Jonah won't hold it against you!!

Love,

We love Logan's! I still feel a little guilty and miss my kids when we leave them, and they're 2 and 4. Dates are ESSENTIAL, though. My hubbie and I are actually having an overnight outing next weekend, and I can't wait, though I know I'll miss the girls.

Glad you got to enjoy it!

You and your husband are adorable. I'm so glad you got some time to yourselves. I'm sure Jonah is happy too even if he did spit up!

I'm so glad you guys got to go out. I think that is so important to keep up or else when you finally do get out you just sort of stare at each other like "who are you?". Funny thing about Logan's Roadhouse - that is where Mike and I went on our very first date (in Greenville) yet, we did not name Logan after our first date location! Love you guys=)

Mmmmm, now I am hungry!

You guys are too adorable. I love seeing a picture of the 2 of you out on a date looking so happy. I can only imagine how hard it was to leave Jonah but it was probably the best thing you can do for the whole family ;~) Thanks for sharing!

Ah, the teriyaki steak is incredible!!! Glad you all got some couple time...I know that's hard when your baby is young and need so much attention that really only you can give, but I'm glad to hear that you are taking care of each other. Blessings on your family...

Haha! I feel the same way about driving ALL the way to Winston from Greensboro! The drive is nice on a date, though...time to chat, and to feel like you've "been somewhere."

so glad you had that time together! sometimes an hour or so is all you need to feel "refreshed". :)

They do have the best salads there and the bread...oh the bread :)

Those babies absolutely know when people leave. I can tell you that first hand...people think they don't know but they do. Glad you guys had a wonderful time...whether short or not :) I can be gone an hour and miss my babies...we have no life anymore!

I learned the secret about teriyaki on steak back in 1991 and have never looked back. I mix half teriyaki and soy sauce with that salt-free garlic and herb seasoning and marinate my steaks in it for a couple of hours before cooking them. Oh yummy yummy. Sodium is probably through the roof but if you only do it once in awhile...meh. You only live once right? :D

Now I'm all hungry and stuff. LOL

i ♥ logan's, too. did you get the "mud" for your bread?? our logan's does that for you if you ask. it is sugar and cinnamon mixed together. yummy!!! it melts right into the butter on the warm bread.

i'm glad you were able to get away for a little while

I used to live less than a mile from that Logan's and have never been there! Will have to try it :) You must have eaten fast to make the trip, order, eat, and be home in an hour and 15 minutes!
