after a hair wash

Jonah tonight after his bath and dressing change... looking a little pooped.
(The new face blisters I was talking about are on his forehead - under the towel).

Look at those little cheeks plumping up - current weight: 9 lbs 10 oz

Eat, Jonah, Eat!! Grow, Jonah, Grow!!!

Thank you, Father.

I saw your update. One thing I've gotten grease out of clothes with is Prell shampoo. (NO conditioner combos) Original green. Just rub it in and let it set a minute. I have even gotten set in stains out with Prell.
Sometimes, I've used Dawn. (Be careful, some has bleach)
Hope one of these helps.
Jonah looks gorgeous, as usual. My kindergarteners are still praying for him. (and you)

He does look tuckered out! Hopefully all that time outside will lead to a good night's sleep for all!
Stumbled upon a stain 'recipe' tonight when I was looking for into about mattresses (I know, odd, which is why I'm sure I am supposed to send it to you!). Pour 1 cup Cascade Dish detergent (it didn't specify powder or gel...) and 1 cup Clorox 2 for Colors into the washing machine. Add clothes, fill with hot water, and let agitate for a few minutes. Then, let it soak overnight. Finish the cycle in the morning.

Take care!

Praying for ya!

I like Fels Naphtha, a laundry soap bar. I like to put the entire bar in a bit of hot water and then in a few minutes rub off the softened soap onto the stain. I then rub the stained area together or use a toothbrush to work on the stain. Into the washer in hot or at least warm water next. I've had a good outcome with FN. I've never found it at my local Wal-Mart, but at least one of our grocery stores carries it.

Patrice - I am glad to hear you are getting a bit more sleep! Jonah looks adorable as usual! I have no idea if this will work with aquaphor, but we recently got suntan lotion out by hand washing the clothes first in a grease cutting liquid dish detergent -- like palmolive or something similar -- my babysitter passed along the tip - and it worked! I hope it works for aquaphor!! Love you all! Tiffany

That has to be one of the sweetest little faces I've ever seen. Hope to see it in person someday!

Sorry it's been slow, but I'm putting your box in the mail Monday w/ the gdiapers and something else for Jonah. Let's just say he has a lot of little friends here in Searcy who are praying for him.

May God give you more peace, patience, and strength than you need from day to day, so it will be there in abundance when you really need it - like those 3am moments we all know and love :)

Still praying constantly,

What a gorgeous little boy! Just to let you know that there are prayers going out for your you and your two little boys from Cape Town, South Africa (where I am) every night. It is hard to work out what time it is here when you do your dressing changes, so I just say a little prayer every hour, and another one when I go to sleep at night :) My husband jokes that I will have to start a list soon with all the children that I pray for every day! I tell him that it isn't neccessary because they are all in my heart!
Much love and blessings from Cape Town

What about soaking clothes in Dawn? I have NO idea if itll work, but they show those commercials of them cleaning birds who were covered in oil from an oil spill......so maybe?

Btw, the pics are precious.

How precious. He looks wiped out! And his face had definitely filled out. He looks like a healthy, sleepy, baby boy.

My secret weapon for grease stains is the original blue Dawn dishwashing liquid - put it on the stain, let it set overnight and wash in the morning. Sometimes I use a product called De-Solve-it, but I think the Dawn works better!

So sorry about Jonah's new blisters. I continue to pray for you all!

Cute photos! He has that "I've just had my spa rubdown and now I'm ready for a snooze" look. 16 or 17 years from now, when he is getting ready for the prom and you are showing these pictures to his date, he'll say "Aw Mom, are you going to make her look at those baby pictures of me?!?!" and you'll just grin.

I've been following your blog for quite some time now and I just wanted to let you know how sweet and handsome Jonah is. I sent you an email earlier this week at the address on your sidebar, but I'm sure you haven't had time to read them yet. I remember reading in one of your posts that you mix Jonah's milk with a formula in order for him to get extra calories. I have 4 month old twins (boy/girl) and my daughter spent her first 12 days in the NICU for low birth weight. We were sent home mixing my milk with Similac NeoSure formula so that she could get the extra calories too. I have 4 brand new cans that have not been opened and I was wondering if this is the formula that you are using. If so, I would LOVE to send it to you...just let me know.

you son is beautiful. My family and I are praying for a complete healing! God is Good...keep trusting. Just wanted to give you a little tip on getting the grease out. Not sure if it will work or not but I have used greased lightening. You find it with the cleaning products. Good luck!

I know I don't know you guys "in real life" but going from these new pictures I cant help but think Jonah looks so much like you, Patrice! He's so handsome!!!

I read your update earlier as well. I love how you are so honest about wanting his face to be clear so people can see him the way that you do. Although my babies are healthy and "normal" in my eyes, I know that the world may be very cruel to them as well. They both have red hair and I think it is sweet, gorgeous and beautiful but I also remember how mean kids and adults alike were when it came to teasing me. Just know that no matter the situation, the world is a nasty place. Thank God that this world is not our home! I see Jonah the way that you do, in a sense, and he is gorgeous beyond compare. He looks strong and healthy and I'm just so proud of you! Keep it up and try to enjoy every moment (whether it involves vomit or not). haha. We're still praying here in Illinois!

Way to go Jonah, so glad to hear he is gaining weight and looks so cute even though a little sleepy, but maybe just relaxed. Love those little fat cheeks. You have my prayers as you know Patrice.

Beautiful dreamer! He looks soooo healthy. Good job Mommy and Daddy!
I don't know Aquaphor, but if it's greasy, try Lestoil. I use Lestoil on everything greasy. Works pretty good!
God bless you.

I have never commented, but have prayed and thought of your family often since the orginial article in the WS Journal. You have so much to proud of. Your strength and faith is amazing and an encouragement to others to always trust the Lord!

As for the aquaphor, I have used so many tubs in the last 7 1/2 yrs on my son (eczema/skin allergies). Dawn does work really great as does the powder form of Biz (let soak overnight). However, my favorite is Krud Kutter that can be found at any home improvement store. It is a degreaser/stain remover.

Many thoughts and prayers.. Boonville, NC.

Dawn dishwashing liquid got vaseline out of my child's hair when nothing else and no amount of shampoo would.
Good luck!

I am just a lurker, but I have been praying for Jonah every day (and in the middle of the night!) since he was born. I will be praying for you as you approach sweet Gabe's birthday. May I ask, and forgive me if I shouldn't, but did you ever get any answers as to why Gabe died? Praying for you and your boys.

Wow! His cheeks ARE plump! So adorable . . . keep eating and growing indeed!

I am still praying.

I have found SHOUT Advanced for GREASY STAINS (foam) works wonders on dried grease stains - the ones you find after you have dried dark clothing. It is in a large aerosol can and really works great on grease. So far it has taken out all old grease stains that were set in the dryer.

You baby boy is gorgeous. Keep focusing one day at a time and I will praying that you find peace each moment of each day.

I was just wondering . . . maybe you could call one of the uniform services that supplies clean uniforms for auto repair shops!

They sure seem to be able to get all kinds of gunk out of those uniforms. Could be they would help you out.

Or even call a local dry cleaner/laundry and beg them for any suggestion they might have!

OR - who does the laundry for the hospital? See if you can find out what they use?

Might be worth a couple of phone calls. They can either help or not.

What a sweet, sweet baby boy! I just love your son :)

I have been lurking for a long time, but Jonah (and you guys) are always on my heart. Whenever you post those sweet photos of him, I can't help but reach out and touch his face on the computer screen and pray over him. Your testimony has moved me so deeply, and the only thing I understand is that if we love Jonah so much, how much more must the Father love him and want only good for him.

I am praying for strength and endurance for you guys, and for peace and comfort to be over your home. I thank God daily for blessing you guys with Jonah and know that our Father who has begun a good work in him will see it to completion!

For grease, would maybe stripping your clothes with Dawn work? It is the greasefighter! :) I'm sure everyone else has given better suggestions, but I cloth diaper, and i know I do that for any greasiness/residue I get on my dipes. Either in the washer on hot/hot (you can add boiling water) and a squirt of Dawn, or in a pot on the stove. It works well if you ever need to strip his diapers to get residue/buildup off of them too :)

Okay -- I have a crazy stain remover, but it works. I was in a car wreck last year and had a burn on my wrist. It hurt like heck to keep it covered, but it stained like crazy when I left it uncovered because it had antibiotic treatment on it all the time. I found a website that said to use mineral spirits--the stuff you use to take paint off brushes. I had some really nice work clothes that I wanted to come clean, and my mom was painting my nursery so there was some in teh washroom...so I gave it a try...and it worked!!! AND it washed out and I couldn't smell it like I was afraid would happen. I always double rinse anyway, but I was SHOCKED at how well it worked. I salvaged my clothes! I never would have tried it if it hand't have been handy, but now I will always keep it in mind for grease stains. It really worked well.
