Praise the Lord!! I was out of the country for a couple of weeks and was not able to read your blog. We got home Sat. night and was excited to come and read that your son is home!! God is so good, all of the time. I was so surprised to read the news, I don't know why, but God just amazes me, I can't get over how faithful he is.
You are still in my prayers, and I love looking at Jonah's pic. on my blog. He has certainly touched lives.
Blessings to you my sister.

It is very confusing for all mom's when you first get home from the hospital with little ones. If they slept well in the hospital they may or maynot sleep well at home. you will adjust to the increased work load and it will become second nature. Don't be hard on yourself and think you need to be wonder mom. I'll keep Jonah and you all in my prayers. WELCOME home little jonah. Your a miracle little boy.

Sara Denslaw said...

Yippie!!! It may be too quiet for him at home. The NICU is always so noisy. It took my daughter awhile to adjust. We used a small fan in her room for white noise and a sound machine with heartbeat sounds. It helped calm her down a bit.

jcclifton said...

So glad that he is home - it will be an adjustment for everyone, especially since he has been in the hospital for a month. I am praying for a peaceful dressing change tonight and thereafter - and for a smooth transition. Love and prayers from North Florida :)WELCOME HOME!

Congratulations! I am so glad you guys are home. I am sure it will be an adjustment for ALL of you (Rya and Deac, too). Just think, you can all go to sleep tonight under the same roof, in YOUR house! We continue to pray for Jonah's dressing changes, his pain management, and your strength. God is so good! We love you and are continuing to pray. Welcome home baby boy! (and Mommy and Daddy, too!) :-)

Much love,

CONGRATS! I am soooo happy that this day is finally here for you and your family! I'll be praying for great dressing changes for you and your little miracle!

While my situation was a bit different, we didn't bring out daughter home until she was almost 3 weeks home. It felt soooo good! I still remember the car ride home! It felt sooo good to finally get home!

nancy said...

Have been checking in today too to see if he came home! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! I second what Sara Jo said about trying to post everyday. It is going to be too much in the beginning. We love it but understand that your time with Jonah is more valuable. Hope the dressing change tonight will be at least ok.....I don't even like change, so why should a month old baby?
WELCOME HOME:)

So happy ya'll are home:) It is a big adjustment for any baby from the NICU. I bet he gets relaxed soon b/c ya'll will be more relaxed.

Babies with ichthyosis need more calories too & I know a few people added something to their pumped milk. Are ya'll doing that? Ethan just nursed more frequently. He still eats a bunch... always more when his skin is bad.

Is Jonah able to wear regular clothes? We have some 100% cotton clothes that would be too greasy for just anyone, but if Jonah is going to be aquaphored up too you may be able to use them. Let me know & I can bring them by (I don't mind just dropping them off on your front porch or something if that would be less intrusive).

And I have to share... I told Ethan that Jonah was coming home today and he wanted to know when he was going to come play on his swingset:) So when he's able, we'll have to have a playdate. Make a wish actually built it for Ethan. It has a sunshade, misting system (b/c Ethan doesn't sweat) and will have rubber mulch since his skin is prone to injury (we've had issues with his skin being scraped off when climbing though & just deal with it... ::sigh::)

I know ya'll are so busy, but I had to message you anyway:) Our thoughts are with you tonight! Before you know it this will all be routine. It will become second nature... I promise. And if you need me--good day or bad I'm here.

Rebecka said...

Congratulations! Good luck with everything. And cherish every moment you get with sweet little Jonah!

I have been following Jonah's story for about a month now. I will definitely be praying for the dressing changes tonight and that Jonah will quickly get into a calm, peaceful routine at HOME! May God's strength, joy and provision be so evident the rest of tonight and tomorrow (and always). I will be in frequent prayer for Baby Jonah, Patrice and Matt.

oh, I know this is a huge victory yet VERY intimidating. I pray this is a quick transition.
Remember, coming home from the hospital is very overwhelming for mom's of healthy babies. Cut yourself LOTS of slack.
We love Jonah and praised God that he was able to come home today during homeschool!
He is so loved.

Go, baby, Go!!

We are SO HAPPY that Jonah has finally come home where he belongs!! I know it must be very scary and will probably be a little overwhelming at times, but I'm sure nothing can beat the feeling of walking in the door with him for the first time and laying him in his own bed. My 3 year old son and I pray for you all every night, and I know that God will provide special grace just for this to carry you through. Give him extra hugs and kisses (I know you won't mind that!) for us.
Love and prayers,
Ashlea and Caden
