jonah - saturday, march 14th

Jonah has had a great day so far! He is 5 for 5 drinking his whole bottle!

At rounds, they just kind of recapped for the new doctor the medicines he is on etc., and then there was nothing else... nothing. Jonah is stable enough (at least for today) that they did not have to change a thing. I couldn't believe it. I sat there for a minute waiting for the bad news, but it never came!

Matt and I have spent all day holding and loving on Jonah (thus no pictures). I've fed him all of his bottles since I've been here, and he's been very alert and content all day. It's so great to spend lots of undrugged time with him. All he had as far as pain medicine today (until right before his dressing change, of course) was Tylenol. And he seemed pain free. We've just had a great day - there's not really any news to report - THANK GOD!

Funny thing for today: Jonah peed on both Matt and I at one point or the other today. (I never truly appreciated the elastic in a diaper until we started cutting it all out). He peed on my right jean pocket, and unfortunately I had a $20 bill in there. I pity the vendor who crosses me. Don't mess with a pee-pee mommy scorned.

Shout-outs:
- Nurse Sheena for staying late last night so she could show the night nurse how to do Jonah's wraps and physical therapy.
- Nurse Sabrina for taking care of Jonah so well, working so hard on his dressing changes, being so patient with his eating, and washing his hair (along with Sheena!). It's so easy to go to sleep at night when I know Sabrina's taking care of him.
- Nurse Stacey for loving Jonah so much and letting me hold him and take care of him ALL day, talking to me, and being my friend, not just our nurse. Wanna move in?
- Dr. Wade whose last day on this service was yesterday. We'll miss you.
- Sarah, my sister, for bringing me Chick-fil-A sweet tea... mmmm.

Please, please continue praying for Jonah -
- that he will continue to eat. I feel like we're turning a corner!
- that the Ativan will continue to work and that he can be relatively pain free during his dressing changes.
- that he will continue to resist infection
- and for his diagnosis that we should receive by Wednesday of this week (we hope).

Thank you so much for your love and for continuing to lift us up. I really feel like Jonah is improving because of all your prayers. His mercies are new every morning!

Psalm 44: 8 - In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever.

I don't even have the words - I am so happy after reading your post tonight! OK, I guess I can come up with two words - praise God! Praying for many more of these giant steps forward and tiny steps backwards. Just spent some time with Eulalia. Her baby bump just gets bigger and sweeter every time I see her. She's doing well and coming off bed rest starting next Monday. Praise God again!

I just found your blog. I was reading through your posts, but couldn't find where you said whether Jonah has a mild case or severe of the genetic disorder?

I'm sorry your little guy has had to go through so much. I'm glad he seems to be painfree today and that you had a wonderful day with him!

Great, Great news!! Funny story: my 11 year old daughter (who stalks your site worse then me) is in love with jonah. So we were out shopping today and she found this blanket (big kids section) but she was absolutely convinced that Jonah needs it. I know he has way more then he could ever use but I thought that it was adorable that while we are shopping and supposed to be buying things for her upcoming spring fling she is thinking about Jonah. I have to admit the material was the most unique material Ihave ever felt. It was like nothing touching you. Anyway I just thought I'd share my daughters love with you.
I'm so happy you are having a blessed day as a family and things keeping getting better!

Hearts and hugs

I am so happ to hear he has had a mostly pain free day. Maybe the Ativan is working for him.
About the peepee thing, ahh the joy of having a little boy. You may have to invest in some of these: http://www.bippityboppitybaby.com/peepeeteepee.htm
I've used them before and they work well, and the best part is they are washable.
Once again, I'm glad he's doing well.

I am so very happy for you guys. I wanted you to know that just about every time I get on the computer, Seth says, "I want to see Jonah." When he sees Jonah, he says, "His skin is hurt." We are glad he had a good day today and we hope there are many more good days in the future. GOD IS SO GOOD. We love you and will talk to you soon.
Much love and prayer,
Leigh

Oh, I feel like dancing!! Dance with me, people! Dance before our Mighty God! I praise you, Lord, for you do all things well. I don't know that I've ever danced in public before, but Matt and Patrice, if I were with you, I would dance with you. :) For now, I'll dance here in my kitchen and let the Lord know my joy and delight in who He is and what He does for his children.

We spent 20 days in the NICU with our daughter (who is now 8 weeks old) and I learned that NICU nurses are the greatest thing since ice cream. We were blessed with wonderful ones - sounds like you are too! And there is nothing like a GOOD day with your baby! Oh it could give you energy to go on!
Praying for ya'll!

Glory be to God this Sunday morning that you have such dedicated nurses and doctors caring for your son. Praises to Him on high for giving Jonah the blessing of a day with many cuddles from Mommy and Daddy. We will be praying that these news-free days continue and that the biopsy results are positive. We have also sent a card for Jonah (and Patrice and Matt) through snail mail.

So nice to hear some good news. I am happy for the three of you. I have had some of those drug combos recently with all of my problems, and they make me out of it. I could not imagine what it would do to a baby. Let me know if I can do anything.
