our day

Today was a good day. Jonah behaved well during dressing change, which is becoming less frequent these days. And he is SO strong, when he's not cooperating, it is very hard to get him bandaged, and even harder to not tear his skin in the process. He's WAY OVER dressing change these days.

Barbara (my neighbor/friend) and her girls came over for lunch, and then after I fed Jonah and they went home for nap time, Jonah and I went and spent some time out on the deck. It was probably too hot to be out there, but we both needed it. I thought it felt good, but I didn't have three layers of bandages on. Our deck is completely covered, with two ceiling fans (my favorite part of the house), so it's significantly cooler there than in the yard.

He promptly took off crawling... "Hey, what's that?" ...
JACKPOT!

Eco Rangers Moose and Zee would be so proud.
True, I let him chew it and lick it, but he loved every minute.

Jonah attempted blowing bubbles for the first time today...
It was pretty much the cutest thing in all of history, amen.

This is not the greatest photo in the world, but check out those dirty bandages... eewww.

It was so great to be outside for both of us though. I got some time to start this...

I love this book already. I'm reading it with a group of nine or ten other ladies and we're meeting once a week to discuss it and how God is working on us. I am going to have LOTS to say about it, so just prepare yourself now. It's revealing a lot of ugly truths about me (and I'd dare say, all of us), and I'm only in chapter two! I can't wait. The title says it all. I am desperately thirsty. I am so low. I'm tired, beat down, worn out, discontent, lifeless. I'm in "just survival" mode, and I hate it. I can't wait to read this, dig back into my Bible (which is collecting dust on my bedside table), and really learn to worship with MY LIFE. I want to be challenged, pushed, made uncomfortable. I don't want to be okay with how things are. I am so ready.

So back to Jonah... he got DIRTY. It took me 20 minutes when we got back in to carefully wet wipe his hands and change all six pieces of Tubifast, his shorts, and his shirt. It was completely worth it though. We both had fun. And it also makes me know that my deck seriously needs to be power washed. (Says sweetly in pathetic girly voice while batting eye lashes)  "Daaaaaaaady...". (Ahem.)

Tonight Matt and I went to a local produce market that just opened up down the street, ran by Target, and then picked up some dinner to bring home. It's been a good day.

If you are in the habit of praying for me along with Jonah, please pray for me as I start this book and Bible study. I feel like I'm on the brink of something amazing. God, I hope so. I can't wait!

Patrice, I heard about you and Jonah though Young Life and I love reading your blog and praying for y'all! Thank you for really being so honest and vulnerable. It is so nice to know that I'm not the only one whose Bible gets dusty. I'm a senior in college this year and you really are inspiring as corny as that sounds. Thank you for putting your heart out there :)

I love to see him dirty. It means he is a typical kid. And you know we love him anyway. Clean, dirty, fussy, cute, feisty. He's still our favorite Jonah!!!

Oh Patrice! I have been praying for just such a day, a "good day", a day to get dirty, be with friends, be outside and explore (even if it is recyclables) and just experience God in our midst. I DO pray for you daily (and MATT) because you are a FAMILY and you all need prayer (as do I). You are on the edge of something amazing. God is poised to act and I thank you for being open to (more) vulnerability to experience it. Waiting expectantly with you, Jennier of Southeast, NC (where this early in the morning my spelling skills have been very challenged by my choice of words!)

Hi Patrice: Love, love the pictures of Jonah being a typical kid and playing outside and getting dirty, Yeah!!!
You are always in my prayers, I feel like you are part of my family. I am in awe of you, all EB parents. I know how hard it is but you do it lovingly every single day. There is certainly a very special place in heaven for all the EB children and their parents. You go through he** on earth and get rewarded in heaven, I'm sure of it. Take care and hang in there. Give Jonah a hug and kiss for me. Love you guys. Love Leah's Nana

Patrice: Your book looks very familiar. I just pulled mine out of the book shelf and since you're going to be commenting on it I think I'll start again at the beginning and read it "with you ". The first four chapters were really good ..I read them about 2 years ago. I'll start again at the beginning. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it as you read it.
Jonah looks so happy....I think he likes your deck. Praying for cooler weather so he can hang out there much more :)

Patrice, I can say how much I love that little fellow...looking at his pictures, seeing him blow bubbles, crawling to see what he can get into & just plain old getting dirty & having fun. Jonah is something SPECIAL (but of course you & Matt already know that.

Of course I always include you & Matt in my prayers along with Jonah..you are all special to me.

Hope you have a great weekend, and maybe, just maybe the cool weather is on the way to being here.

Love ya

Keep us posted on how you like the study. I meet with a group of girls weekly, and we are always looking for new & challenging material that keeps us in the Word... Love the bubble-blower. It is so amazing to watch them explore and learn new things. Also a challenge (a good one), since it shows us just how closely they are really watching us!!

Hi there. Just wanted to let you know that Owen and family at www.simmonsfamilyupdate.blogspot.com could use our prayers as he has some amazing news from Stanford. He is another amazing dude. I seem to have one on each "coast" (or would that be time zones.....?) Jonah is STILL my favorite toddler for sure. He's a North Carolina boy (I love me some southern men!) Jennifer of Southeast, NC
