playing with pinwheels

My friend, Jenn, the professional photographer who also took the photos for Jonah's birthday party, came to help with dressing change on Monday. Right before she left, she grabbed her camera and took a few beautiful shots of Jonah. He was in a good mood and playing with his pinwheels, so all was right with the world. These images are unedited, straight out of the camera. (They make me want to buy a new lens, an external flash, a light diffuser thingy, and also a Canon... Thou shalt not covet, Thou shalt not covet. Thou shalt not covet...)

Isn't he beautiful?

"Ohhhhh, a big flower one."

And BIG news folks: As of yesterday Jonah can sit up from lying down. My mom went up to get him out of bed after his not-so-nap yesterday morning and he was SITTING UP in the crib. And then later in the evening, I took him outside and put him on a blanket while I watered the flowers, and he showed me three different times. Back, tummy, hands and knees, to sitting. He's a CHAMP!

We had a good g-tube day today. I went to four bottles instead of three in hopes I wouldn't have to bolus as much. He can handle a lot more with his first bottle of the morning, so he took eight by mouth, and I bolused two. That was around 9:15. At 12:30, he ate five, I bolused three. At 4:30, he wouldn't eat at all, so I held my breath and bolused five. And at 7:45, he ate four, and I bolused two. Except for his very first bottle, I vented his tummy every time right before the feeding. That gave him a total of 29 ounces, NO GUSHERS! Thank you so much for your prayers. I know we'll have bad days and good days, but I'm thankful that today was a good one. Did I mention he took a two and a half hour nap too? Woohoo!

Hope you rest well this evening!

You can do an external flash for pretty cheap (in comparison to the big ones) if you get a speedlight 400. It does make a huge difference in not having blown out pictures--and the diffuser can be as simple as a piece of tissue paper with a rubber band on it.

Love the photos though :) and the new blog design!

I bet having a full tummy more often is going to help him sleep better. And BTW, I discovered last night that at least some of The Children's Place clothes have the sewn-flat seam in the neckline (saw you mention it about his very first Big Boy shirt from Target and thought I'd pipe up :)

Yes, he is beautiful, handsome, adorable, & sweet. I love the new blog & am happy to hear that Jonah had a day without gushers.

Way to go with his sitting up & crawling will the the next big accomplishment--then watch out you will never keep up with him.

I hope that you have a great weekend & that the g-tube continues to work out.

Bye the way..my new screen saver at work happens to be the pictures you took last Saturday..when I look back at the screen there is that handsome boy & a glimpse of you floating by. I love looking at Jonah..

Love & prayers.

Wonderful pictures - your baby is perfect! Glad to hear our prayers were answered affirmatively - great news about the food intake. Continuing to lift up sweet Jonah.

My boys have all LOVED playing with pinwheels since their eyes could focus. They have the same one! :)

He is so cute. I love that flower pinwheel. I am glad you found the simmons blog. I thought it made since with the liquid diet thing being hard on their stomach. I hope you find all kinds of good ways to get nutrition in him and that this g-tube works out. I am glad to hear it worked well yesterday.

Patrice, I've been reading since Jonah was born and this is the first time I've actually commented.
He is a) adorable and b) such a good mix of you and Matt. I can see both of you so clearly in him. What a joy!
