jonah update

Just a quick update on Jonah -

He started getting a cough a couple days ago. I took him to the doctor on Wednesday, but they said his lungs and breathing sounded good. They said it was probably just a virus and to keep an eye on him.

He's been alright, but this afternoon he was super fussy, and he's running a very low grade fever (right around 99.8) tonight. I guess the biggest thing is that he's refusing to eat more than just one to two ounces at a time. And the worst part about his cough is that it causes him to gag and gush. He's had more gushers in the last three days than he's had in the last two weeks.

Anyway, I'm having a hard time with seeing him feel bad and cough like he is. I gave him some Delsym last night, and it seemed to help. I didn't want to give it during the day, but I gave him some more tonight. I'm really praying he can just get a good night's sleep, and that the fever goes along with the cough and is not the beginning symptoms of an infection. It's funny how your head can start running away with you.

And it's April, and I get really sad in April. As Gabe's Day gets closer, I feel the grief get heavier. I miss him so much, especially these last few days.

So anyway, things are okay but Jonah's not feeling great and neither is his Mommy. :(

And tomorrow we have to clean out the garage. Bummer.

Hugs to you Patrice, we will be praying for Jonah and for you. Our hearts are amazing things... they can love with such depth, along with that they keep and carry grief just as deeply.

As for the garage, well I can't even try to tell you to enjoy that! I guess the upside is atleast the weather is wonderful!

When Sami was a baby every fever I thought of skin infection first before I though of common childhood illness! I think its only natural with an EB baby.

Will he drink Pedalite? (sp?) It will help with any mucus in his throat as well. they have them in Popsicle form as well!

If his cough continues. I like what you are using. If he gets worse you might want to Ask for donatusin. It worked amazing with my boys. My boys always gushed because of coughing. We will pray extra for you.

Those cough induced gushers can get really frustrating...for both the baby and mommy. Praying he feels better quickly and starts eating more.

Will be praying for you as Gabe's Day approaches.

Patrice,

Nothing I can say can relieve your sadness. I have a healthy four year old daughter, but have struggled the past 2 1/2 years with infertility, lossing babies early in pregnancy. My grief over the losses comes and goes. I've learned taht I just have to feel whatever I feel. There are times when I absolutely can not attend a baby shower and there are times I can go and only feel complete joy for the mother and baby. My journey has taught me that grief is so unpredictable and I've just got to allow it to be what it is. Thank you for being so transparent with us...so many of us are strangers to you on Earth, but we are brothers and sister who will be together eternally. I am praying for you as Gabe's day approaches.

In Him,
Natalie

Big hugs for you and sweet Jonah. We'll continue to pray that he'll get over whatever this is very quickly, and that you'll have peace and encouragement this April.

I feel for you on the garage - I have to go through all the kids' clothes and sort, try on, store, etc. Not at all fun!

Please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.

Love from TX!
Laura

PS - Caroline and I are brainstorming about a "bandage sleeve."
