We have had a really nice weekend. We got to get out several times, and Jonah has eaten really well and kept all of it down. (HOORAY!) He was a little fussy Friday night, but for the most part, he's been in a really good mood all weekend.
On Saturday, we went to my friend Gina's new diner. It was a lot of fun. They have chicken stew (the NC kind) as a daily soup, Diet Dr. Pepper, and all of her tables and chairs are from Target. That's right. I'm in love.
We spent the rest of the day taking down Christmas decorations (growl, spit, hiss), watching football, and watching the Wake game (we don't want to talk about it.)
This morning we did early dressing change and then had to be at church early to get pictures taken. Dedication Sunday for all the babies born in 2009 is coming up here in a couple weeks, and we had our pictures taken today for it. Jonah was SUCH a ham. He was so great, in such a good mood, and smiled sweet for the camera. And he didn't cry at all. It was so wonderful. They were like, "Oh what a good baby. We really needed a happy baby."
WHAT? My baby is the easy baby. That's new.
And this afternoon it was Mexican for lunch (yum!) and I got to take a two hour nap. That's right. My husband is the BEST and watched Jonah (and football) so I could take a much needed siesta. Do you think if I brag enough about him on the blog I'll get to take a nap every Sunday afternoon? Really, he's the greatest. Really.
We've stopped putting as much rice cereal into Jonah's bottles, as the GI doctor thinks that might have been causing his gushing. I told Dr. S he was throwing up every three to four feedings, like he just needed to unload what was on his stomach. He's already on 27 calorie formula, plus we were putting about two tablespoons of rice cereal in eight ounces of formula. He thought that, even though we had started the rice cereal to help keep it down, maybe now that he's eating more, it was just too heavy. I haven't stopped the rice cereal completely, but I'm doing about a third less, and he's doing a lot better. He hasn't gushed since Wednesday night, although he will, now that I just wrote that. I'll gradually back down the cereal even more in hopes that he'll be hungrier for solids. It's a balance I guess. If I back down on the calories, I risk him losing weight, but if I don't back down, I wonder if he'll ever show much interest in solids. I just don't think he's very hungry. He's back to NOT liking solids again. Sigh.
Sorry this isn't a very exciting post. It's just been a low key, relaxing, simple weekend. And I'm so thankful... glad I don't have anything too "news worthy." I was just thinking as I drove to pick up lunch today how "normal" it's all felt this weekend. Are things really getting easier? I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but it's just been so great. So uneventful. Just how we like it.
********************************
We have over 40 items submitted already for Jonah's Auction for DebRA. Isn't that great? I think it's going to be so much fun. People are so excited to help, and we even had someone (thanks, W!) donate $100 to help pay shipping costs for the items so that as much of the bid money can go to DebRA as possible. Woohoo!
We could really use some more gift cards for the auction (Target, Walmart, grocery cards, gas cards, chain restaurants, Amazon etc) because they will be great sellers, AND there's hardly any shipping cost, so pretty much all money goes to DebRA. Could you donate? They don't have to be large amounts. Anything you can do would help, and we want to have some items that are lower priced so there will be something for everyone. Anyway, if you or your company could donate something, please contact Katie at jonahsebauction (at) gmail (dot) com.
And whether you donate an item or not, please make sure you plan on participating in the auction. It will run the five days leading up to Jonah's first birthday (Feb 27th), and it's gonna be AWESOME! I'm getting to be in the loop as far as what's been donated, and I'm really going to have keep myself under control. There is some good stuff, believe me.
Get ready. You guys are going down. :)
Hope your weekend was great too. Happy Normalcy!
Oh yeah, don't forget to pick up Jonah's new button. He's changed so much since the last one (SO much hair!), so I asked Peyton to do another one with a more recent photo. I thought it turned out really great.

Glad you had such a great weekend, Patrice!! Gina's diner sounds mighty fine, too - how can you go wrong with chicken stew, Diet DP and Target furniture?!
Hope you get some great rest this evening!!
Love from TX!

Jonah is so precious. I put the new button on my blog and hope it brings at least a little more traffic to your site. My site is not very popular yet...:)
Hugs and praise to God for a good weekend,
Lisa
Love the new button! Glad you had a good weekend. Nothing better than a Target trip and a nap. What a blessing that Jonah is keeping formula down more. Hope the less rice helps with less gushers.
Patrice - thankful for nothing "newsworthy" and for your relaxing weekend. Oh, and that I'm not the only one who was taking the tree down this weekend ;)
Have a great week!
I noticed the new button right away! He is too cute. Glad you had a normal weekend...those are never a bad thing!

what's the difference between NC chicken stew and SC chicken stew? i live in the upstate of SC and never knew you could get chicken stew anywhere else but the upstate of SC.
happy j is doing better with his gushers. hope he likes solids soon, maybe try chicken stew ;)!
Yay, glad to hear you had a such a nice weekend and that Jonut is continuing to thrive...way to go. Can't wait to bid on something for the auction...woot woot!
Everyone used to tell me that the first year was the hardest. I didn't believe them because the first year really is SO hard, but it turned out to be true. It was like once we hit the one year mark a weight was lifted and Ella all of a sudden became much easier to deal with. We had a good routine with her boo boos and knew how to handle pretty much anything that came our way, and she became a much more compliant child. I'm sure the same will be for Jonah and soon all the difficulty of the first year will be a distant memory.

Patrice, Can you share the name and location of this diner with the NC Chicken stew? I love chicken stew and would love to know where to find it? So thankful for your good weekend. Thanks,
Sounds like a wonderful weekend...especially the "nap" part. You will have to give Gina's new diner info for us locals so we can try it out!
New button UP!
We still have our Christmas tree up!! Everyone had been posting on facebook about taking down their tree and my mother posted a very defiant "NOT taking down my tree" haha. We are quite attached to the tree, its just so pretty!
Yay for a boring weekend!! What a blessing, really! But I'm jealous...my Christmas tree and decorations are still up. And the longer they're up, the less I want to take them down...definitely high on my unfun list...
Here's to a boring week for you, followed by an uneventful weekend! :D
so glad you had a good weekend,
