Update 1: Jonah is sounding much better than when he woke up this morning. He's definitely not 100% and a little more fussy than usual, but doesn't seem to be getting any worse. And still no fever. Hooray!
The blister has not affected his eating (I don't think) so far, although he is not eating well. It doesn't seem to be a "can't latch on" issue so much as a "tired and grumpy" issue. So far it's just our everyday eating issues, although the blister is still there and will probably get bigger. They always do. He's only eaten a little over three ounces both feedings so far. He went down for a nap about a half an hour ago, so I'm hoping he'll sleep to fight off whatever this is.
So it's not nearly as bad as I was thinking this morning. Hopefully everything only gets better from here.

Jonah woke up sick this morning. He's congested with a weak cry. I figure he has what I was trying to get last week. He doesn't feel like he's running a fever, so right now it is minor.
Also, I noticed when I was trying to feed him some oatmeal this morning (the operative word being trying), he has a big blood blister on the back of his tongue. Those are the kind that keep him from being able to take his bottles, and they usually get very big and a lot worse before they drain. Praying that it will drain on its own and quickly. I don't want to (and don't know if I can) go back there with a needle.
He already lost an ounce from the week before last to last week (as opposed to gaining six ounces like he's been doing), so I'm not happy that he'll likely be unable to eat today.
Feeling overwhelmed before 9 am.

I pray for all of you often.....My 2 kids are so in love with Jonah they even have their friends at school asking about him (they are 11 and 12)..... One option to consider, that is not as invasive as a G-tube, would be to learn to put a NG tube in (it goes in his nose to his stomach). It's not that difficult to put in. When he has a hard time feeding over multiple days, you could feed him via the NG and he would not lose the nutrition. Just a thought, we will keep praying for him.

Oops - forgot - the NG tube would impact his face (as you can imagine) but it is possible to do. We did it with AJ for three months.

Patrice, I pray that Jonah's immune system is strong and can fight off this stupid sickness. This time of year is hard for all children with the weather changing...but sweet Jonah needs extra prayers, and thats just what I am doing.

I don't get to read your posts until the evenings. I'm glad Jonah felt better throughout the day. (I pray he's still doing better at this very hour.) I loved seeing your DCF pictures. Oh, and the video, that was hilarious! Boy, when he saw that camera, he just wasn't the same baby! I thought he looke liked a little fish trying to talk, the way he kept moving his mouth. I guess he was trying to make the clicking sound though. Thinking back to your blogs the first few months of Jonah's life, it so humbling to see pictures and videos of Jonah and your outings and such, things I tended to take for granted with my own children. You and Matt are wonderful parents and I hope you continue to be able to take Jonah places and enjoy your life with him. He is SUCH A PRECIOUS SOUL and a blessing to so many people.
