just checking in

Just a quick note to check in. I'm very tired so no fun post or pictures tonight. Sorry.

We didn't make it to church today (Jonah was up a lot overnight, so he slept in this morning... and we, being the heathens that we are, slept in with him.) We got up, fed Jonah, did some chores around the house, and then did dressing change. Then my mom, sisters, brother, sister-in-law, and niece and nephew came for a couple hours around lunch time. I then ran a couple errands during Jonah's nap, came home, and spent the rest of the afternoon making baby food - more bananas and squash, apples, and sweet potatoes... many hours on my feet. (I also have plans to do green beans and peas, but ran out of time - and energy!- to do those today.)

Oh, and I had spaghetti for lunch... you know, just in case you are wondering.

Cute thing of the day - We were down in the basement tonight setting up for tomorrow's dressing change, and we had Jonah in the swing. He started getting really fussy and tired, so he tried to turn over on his side in the swing. (We put him on his side to sleep - seems like it protects his face the most). Anyway, Matt and I both thought it was cute and hilarious, so we both started laughing at him. He realized we were laughing at him, looked straight at us, and then proceeded to laugh-cry for the next few minutes, acknowledging that he is, indeed, the funniest five-month-old on the face of the planet. I let him be self-indulgent from time to time. I can't help it. He's so darn cute.

He is a cutie!! Will pray for the three of you to have a restful night. Although I'm somewhat apprehensive about this, b/c I specifically prayed for this LAST night and look where it got you! LOL!

Seriously, praying for God's peace, rest, grace, and healing.

Love from TX!

I'm so intrigued by the genius making of your own babyfood. What do you use to do it? Any special kind of food processor?

If that is the definition of heathen, then we fit the bill today, too. I was just hoping next Sunday would go better. I will pray the same for you. Have a great week. God bless.

There was an piece on CNN this afternoon about a little guy with EB. His aunt is raffling off her house to pay for an experimental surgery. In the teaser, I recognized the wraps and the blisters and knew it was EB before they said it. I'm learning from Jonah.

Let me know how your green bean turn out. That (and carrots) were always the hardest for me to get a smooth consistency from! UGH! What kind do you use and what process do you use to make them? I have used the "Super Baby Food" book since my 6 year old was a baby and made baby food for the other two as well. Never could get those green beans and carrots to work right (squash either for that matter :)

Just a little heads up about the green beans...they have a very strange consistency when you blend them. I could never get Mason to eat them when I made them, and I didn't blame him because they looked disgusting. Hopefully you will have better luck. You will have to blog about it and let us know how they turn out. Love you!

Funny story.:) All 3 of my kiddos tried to do that very thing and we thought it was hilarious. It's like they forget those straps are there. I make all of my baby food too. So glad you are taking the time to do that for him.:)

I love those microwave steam bags for cooking my baby food before processing. Supposedly it keeps in a lot more of the nutrients. I like it because it is fast and less mess. But the bags have an extra cost I guess you wouldn't have with stove top cooking. Glad mine is on real food now...no more green ice cubes!
