desde la playa

I haven't had time to post from the beach yet, but we are here safe and sound. Jonah slept all but the last 20 minutes of the trip to Florence, and slept all the way to the beach from there yesterday. It's 4:00 on Sunday, and Matt and I still haven't made it out to the beach yet. We just finished up dressing change, and I think his parents are going to watch Jonah now so we can head out. So excited!!! I'll miss him once we're out there though. What can I say? I'm totally whipped.

The reason for the late start today? Jonah stayed up screaming from 2am to 4am last night, so we all slept in a little bit this morning. I think the new surroundings are throwing him for a loop a little bit. He's been a lot fussier than usual. However, he was sooooo cute last night. We all went out on the ocean front deck to watch the fireworks, and he took his bottle on my lap, completely relaxed (that's a big deal for him - to be completely relaxed for a bottle), soaking it all in. He LOVED it. And it was so beautiful - almost a full moon, a nice breeze, fireworks literally in all directions. It was great.

I do have some great pictures from the kids' annual 4th of July "show," but haven't had a chance to get them off my camera yet. So check out Katherine's blog for some cute pics. I'll try to post some soon.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Off to the ocean (except not really because I'm scared of the ocean... but you get the idea.)

My sons always need a night to recuperate and to adjust when we go on vacation. So totally normal! I'm so glad though to hear that you're having a great time, because really what the holidays and vacations are for, are for the moments you share with your friends and family. Enjoy!

We saw fireworks from the beach here in FL, and it was awesome to see them all up and down the beach! Glad you got to enjoy it with your family! Can't wait to look at pics.

Glad to hear Jonah was EATING. Something about the beach makes you hungry. Let the ocean breeze blow and clear the worries and give you peace.
Prayers always,

Patrice,
I am delighted to read your blog post today and so glad you made it to the beach! I hope all of you will have a wonderful relaxing vacation. Great to hear how Jonah enjoyed the night beach air and fireworks. Thanks for updating and letting us keep up with your journey. Have a good time and follow my motto, " even a bad day at the beach is better than a good day anywhere else ".

Hi Patrice - glad you all made it safe and sound! We always try to "pad" our vacation (which is a trip to Memphis to see my in-laws) with a couple of extra days so we have time on the front and back end for "re-adjustment!"

Enjoy putting your toes in the sand!

Love,
Laura

Been waitin' to hear from you guys! Glad to hear things are going pretty well. Hope you get as much R&R as totally possible! I was at Pinedale tonight for The Gathering . . . a youth event for area churches. It was great! Couldn't help but think about the Williams family while I was there.

Love & Prayers

Rest, sleep, rest some more... ahhhh... that's what vacations are for!!! Do the things you absolutely have to, but the others forget 'em. Saw the pictures: they're so cute... loved the parade of "stars"... read a little of K.'s posts... I could get hooked on her use of vocabulary!
Have a wonderful time.
Hugs across the miles for Jonah,
Barbara Lyman :-)

Enjoy your vacation! When my boys were babies they always fussed the first night or two because of the new surroundings. Have fun at the beach you and your husband soooooooo deserve a break!

I personally give you permission to take a week off from blogging! When you think you are going to sit down and type...head to the beach with your husband instead! The computer and readers will be here when you are at home...enjoy that vacation! What a lovely sounding place!

Haven't visited your blog in a long time, but I also haven't been computing much lately either.

You know...if you guys were in the Myrtle Beach area for the 4th, and I made myself known around here more often I would have of loved to met you and especially sweet little cutie Jonah!

And I don't go out or even to the beach during the 4th, but I would have definitely made the exception.

Sorry I missed you, but maybe another time?

I loved the photos of him seeing the beach for the first time....he spoke what he was thinking and it was soooo cute!

Hope you all had a wonderful time!
