home again, home again

A couple more pictures from our time at the hospital.

The following picture pretty much speaks to how tired we are these days. The rigor of new parenthood coupled with giving meds, pumping, mixing milk, dressing changes, time in the hospital and just worrying in general lead to UTTER EXHAUSTION. We sleep when and how we can.
We're home now. Our friends Rob and Leigh are visiting from Greenville, and it was so nice to have a happy day to come home to. I slept for about 2 1/2 hours this afternoon. Napping is glorious - I just wish I got to do more of it. The running joke is that if we need Jonah to wake up to eat, I just go lie down in bed and pretend I'm trying to sleep - that wakes him right up.
Things I'm thankful for tonight -
- Jesus and the gift of salvation and ultimate hope
- Answered prayers
- JONAH
- Jonah's healthy airway
- Beautiful friends and family - a huge support network
- Blog readers (aka PRAYER WARRIORS)
- HGTV (which has good shows all night except between 4-6am, when it's lacking which is unfortunate considering this directly coincides with Jonah's play time. Sabrina, I blame you for this. I don't feel like reading Bible stories in the middle of the night like some night nurses I know)
- Still Target

HAHA very funny! When he was here after his 3 am feeding he really did think it was play time, wide awake. I am glad you guys are home! I hope you have restful sleep tonight (if at all possible)

Loved hearing that you guys were able to bring your little sweetheart home! Praise God for answered prayers!

Careful....if you watch too much HGTV, you'll start remodeling your house in your dreams. I did it when my little one was a preemie. :o)

Hey guys...I haven't been on in a couple of days, but you & Jonah have been in my prayers anyway. I am sooooo happy that the scope went well and that ya'll are HOME!! I love the pictures you posted...that boy has got so much character! Oh, and on a funny note, that lion looks almost identical to one that my youngest son, Zack, had when he was a baby....and he's turning 14 next month! Anyway, welcome back home, hang in there, and know that you're in our prayers...

I am continuing to pray for Jonah's healing and for your strength. You are an encouragement to me.

Praise God for such good news on Jonah's scope. I know reading all those online studies and such probably wrecks your head but just remember that Jesus' hand is on Jonah and helping you get through all of this. Jonah continues to be in my prayers.

Here's hoping blissful napping is in your very near future! At our home...family nap time is usually in order on the weekends...my kids are almost 6 (my daughter has the same Puddles Duck you have for Jonah that I mentioned in an earlier comment so it's getting on in years!) and my son is 10...woot woot for napping! Hang in there...you both are doing an amazing job and I was glad to hear you are home.

I love the picture of Matt zonked out. I have quite a few pictures of Nathan passed out with Rory in his arms. I took one every chance I got - which was often, what with him getting up for work at 3am, then going to class directly afterward, and then coming home to help me take care of a baby. I'm still not really sure why he was so tired...

I love you guys and I'm glad you're home. I miss you.

Thankful that Jonah is home!! On a complete random side note, his Winnie The Pooh blankie is my son's "bedtime blankie". He absolutely loves it! Hope Jonah does too!!

Loved your praises! The Lord gave me a song for you. It may be one you have heard a 100 times and it may be one people have told you about 100 times, but, He told me to give it to you RIGHT NOW! So, see if you can listen to the Third Day song, "Call My Name." It is awesome and it will speak directly to your heart, I am sure! So happy you are home and that things are going well. I am prayin', prayin', prayin'! Keep lookin' up! Love in Him, Missy in Mexico

Welcome home! Just found your blog and will keep your sweet baby in my prayers.

I've been reading through and see that you use Aquaphor. I'm sure you have read many things, but was wondering if Aquaphor would cause him pain?

My 8 year old has had eczema since she was born and our doctor always recommended Aquaphor. So I'd slather her up really well. When she got older and began to talk she would always tell me it hurt. Not until after I put it on my very own chapped hands did I finally realize that this stuff stings.

Welcome home!!!

p.s. I still have that tub of Eucerin cream if you guys want it!

Praise the Lord!!!! I wanted to share something with you that the Lord revealed to me after praying for my own children: He gently reminded me that He picked me to be their mother and Big D to be their dad because no one else could do it better. As I am a new reader (and prayer) of your blog, it is so evident why God gave you Jonah, because no one else could care for, love on, and provide for him better than you two!!! It's amazing how far we can really go when God is our strength supplier. Praying for more healing days to come!!!!

No good programming from 4-6am? You MUST have DVR?!? If not, it's the least you can do for yourself, so that in the few and far between times you can actually watch something, it can be EXACTLY what you want it to be! So thankful for Jonah's good airway news :)

Leigh showed me the pictures and the videos she took, and I got that personal message. So glad they got to visit. Jonah looked so precious and I saw him lifting that head up, going to be a strong little guy, but we knew he was a fighter anyway. My thoughts and prayers are continuing for all of you. May God Bless and keep you.
