jonah - friday, march 20th

A quick update before I go back for Jonah's dressing change...

He has been much less fussy today, but very, very sleepy. This could be because he hasn't slept much in the last two days, but it could be he's getting sick. His temperature is currently 99.2 (a good range for a baby his age is 97-99), but this is after being unwrapped a lot today (many bandaging patch-ups) and having been on Tylenol all day. I just wonder how high it would be with no Tylenol and having been wrapped up.

His biopsy spot is also infected.

He only ate 25 cc's at his 6:00 feeding. Usually, he's ravenously hungry.

Please pray for Jonah - that if he does have an infection, the oral Keflex will take care of it. If it doesn't or the blood culture and the culture they did on the biopsy come back saying he needs something stronger, we will be facing the reality of a PICC line or broviac. Both of those are NOT good. The PICC line is very rough on his skin, they would have to put it in his neck, and it would be difficult to secure (thus lots of rubbing around and causing blisters, with a good possibility he would somehow rip it out anyway). The broviac would be bad because it would mean Jonah would have to be intubated (a tube down his trachea).

Please, please pray that the oral antibiotic will be enough.

Pray that Jonah is only tired and not sick. Please, Lord, no infection.

Pray that he will be relatively calm and pain-free during his dressing change.

Thank you for lifting him up.

We are praying hard core. This sounds really scarey. Please dear Lord, make Jonah fight this infection.

Praying for no infection, no need for a line, vancomycin, and that he eats ALL of his nutritional needs on his own.

I have heard of babies having Broviac's placed on their backs so that they wouldn't rip them out. Lydia's was on her chest, but she didn't have the skin condition, nor did it bother her. She was listless during her treatment unlike Mr. Jonah. Also, their is such a thing as a biopatch that can be used on a broviac so its dressing only has to be changed once a week. With his skin condition, I don't know a good answer (plus we are begging God to not need it).

Still praying for you and your Jonah. I know how hard it is to see your little one lying there in pain (yet I can not imagine how much pain little Jonah is in! Praying hard for some comfort for him!) and even worse seeing how much medicine has to be pumped into them to make them comfortable and to help them function. Praying God will take away whatever is in little Jonahs body and give him the rest and strength he needs. Also praying for you and your hubby that you get the rest that you need and the strength you need as well. Take care!
Love in Christ~

P.S. He is way too adorable!

Matt and Patrice, I will continue to pray for Jonah, that his pain will subside with a minimum of medication; that he will be able to take his nourishment; that his infection will clear up very soon; that he will be healed of this condition that he has. I will also pray for each of you, knowing that you must be physically, mentally, and even spiritually exhausted. I lift you up to God for the peace that passes all understanding. Know that you are all three loved.

Dear God, please let the keflex clear up any infection that Jonah may have. Overall, he has been doing better and we pray for no set-backs. He is so ready to go home with his mommy and daddy so please, if it be your will , let him eat and be nourished all on his own. I pray for his precious mom and dad that they will receive the strength to wake up and face each new day, whether it be a good day or a not so good day. We will give you all of the glory forever and ever, Amen

Almighty God, Thank you for the precious gift of Jonah Williams. If it be your will, draw him near to you for healing and comfort. Draw his parents near to you for strength and wisdom. Hold each one in the palm of your might and able hand that they glorify You for many, many days to come.

He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and will gently lead those that have their young. Isaiah 40:11

Patrice - being a new mother myself, I really have NO idea how you're doing this! Well I mean, I do know who's holding you up and only He can be the one keeping you going. But I cry reading most of your posts and I cannot imagine going through that. I feel helpless and wish I could do something more but know that the prayers are still coming. Although at times I don't know what to ask God but to hold you up and keep giving you some kind of comfort. Hang in there strong girl. Love you!
