jonah's announcement

Finally... Jonah's birth announcement. I didn't want to post it until I had sent them out (which took me three months, but that's neither here nor there).

Here it is:

This was designed for me by Heather with Picture It Cards. She does beautiful announcements of any kind, and will custom design whatever you'd like. I know she didn't do this so I'd give her a shout-out on my blog, but it was just such a wonderful gift, and she's just so talented, how could I possibly resist? Thank you so much, Heather. I LOVE IT!

I WILL be using her for my Christmas cards... you know, if I actually send out Christmas cards. The three months late thing might be a problem. Maybe I'll send out Easter cards. If I just start working on them now...

Ours is being held up on our refrigerator by one of our Jonah magnets! So he is definitely a star in our kitchen. :)

These are awesome! I might have to use her to make some cards for myself too. Do you just tell her what you want it to say, and give pics, and she designs the layout and such?

The birth announcement is terrific - mostly in part to the wonderful pics of Jonah with such delightful expressions! Is there any way for me to print one?

I will tell you how we manage to do Christmas cards and such (and my girls are all grown up, so I don't have the excuse of little kids to explain why mine are always late! hehehe)!

I took the time to put all my addresses on labels on the computer. It is easy throughout the year to update any that I need to update. Right before the holidays, I ask my husband to write a paragraph about the events he wants to include in our family letter. I EDIT his paragraph (wink, wink), count the number of labels, print the letter and he gets to fold, stuff and apply mailing labels. We usually do a photo card also, so he just has to stuff those in. We don't worry about signing each and every letter, or handwriting the addresses. If we did that, we would never get them out.

Anyway, in a nutshell, streamline your process. It is almost fun to do the cards with our process. Plus, it has been so handy having all the addresses already formatted to labels, we have used them for graduations, weddings, etc. They only take a second to print, peel and stick!

Have a good weekend! Hope Jonah enjoys the birthday party!!

I am not sure if you are feeling it, but lately I've noticed, with every blog entry, your life becoming pretty "normal" of that of parents of a newborn. Your announcement is beautiful and your precious Jonah is truely a reason for celebration! I have introduced him to my 2 grandaughters & they are going to start praying for a Jonah Miracle too :)

Hey Matt and Patrice. Not sure if you remember me, but I used to work at TR with Matt before the sad lay off. Anyway, I follow the blog and pray for you guys and Jonah of course. He is absolutely beautiful. I love his eyes. Anyway, I heard this song the other day and thought of you guys. Here are the lyrics that made me think of you. "Amazing all the progress we’ve made since the days of Thomas Edison. Still only God gives life in spite of modern medicine. Doctor’s voices whispered we did all that we could do, but your baby wasn’t strong enough to make it the whole nine months. And as my world broke in two He said I’ll carry you through to Love Land. For the longest time I blamed myself. Thought I was paying for my mistakes.
But we tried again...Now we’re watchin’ him blow three candles out. He’s daddy’s little man. And only God could have planned the steps I’ve taken that led me to where I am. Love Land." It was almost like that part was written for you. I look forward to seeing pictures of him when he is three and how wonderful that day will be. Ok, now I'm rhyming like you did in one of the blogs!! And your birth annoucement is awesome. You are both doing great; hang in there!!

What a wonderful announcement! That is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. I thought of you today (and prayed). I had a "my pleasure" experience today. It was right next to the Target I shopped at. I thought of you as I pushed my cart (and thanked God as this is probably the last solo trip until school starts up again!). What a sweet boy you have to snuggle with! Jennifer in Southeast, NC

I send out "January cards" every year. That way I get through the holidays, then think about the cards after the fact. (The shipping is faster too that way!) :) It's a great tradition.

That is so cute. I love the photo in the top corner, it looks like he has his little lip poked out. :)

Loved the birth announcement, what a keepsake that will be! Heather did a great job, but she had a handsome subject. I had already seen Leigh's. Sounds like things are going better Patrice, I am continuing to pray for Jonah, you and Matt. As I have said before, Jonah's dressing will become routine and he will be getting older so you can really enjoy him. I pray his eating will work out. Have a super week-end. (((Hugs)))

Will you go to this blog and read and maybe encourage them. I have been reading their blog since the loss of their fourth child but it was their second lose. They just delivered a baby girl yesterday that is blistering when touched and are in great need of prayers and encouragement. You can read about it at http://www.babybolte.blogspot.com/
Thanks! www.thesimplymade.blogspot.com

These are beautiful!

MckMama just posted a link to this blog on her Twitter - I haven't read back far enough to know what was wrong with their previous little boy (boys? really haven't read back much) but it is sounding like their little girl has EB - blistering skin where there is friction, where her bracelet was, etc. Might want to take a look and contact her?

Hi there,

First off, your son is SO SO CUTE! I am sorry Jonah's skin gives him so much trouble and pain. I stumbled upon your blog and will for sure keep your family in our prayers.

I thought I would leave a comment here because I too use Heather at Picture It Cards (She has become my online friend) and has amazing work.

I am proud of what you are doing everyday and blogging about it, I am sure it helps more people than you know... plus you get so many more prayers.

Your friends in Las Vegas,
Melissa
