welcome to moe's

Not a whole lot to post tonight except...

Today, Matt's Aunt Patsy and I took Jonah to Moe's for the first time. Oh, for the love of Moe's. Moe's rocks the hizzouse. Wrapped up in his Miracle Blanket tonight, I was inspired. He's either my "Jonah Bag of Donuts" or my "Joey Bag of Jonuts." Can't decide which I like better. He's a cutie either way.

And tonight, after dressing change, Matt and I got brave and took him to Ham's. I know, I know... two restaurants in one day. Tenemos mucho coraje. We felt sure he would fall asleep on the way (he had been awake since 3:30 except for a 20 min cat nap... it was after 8pm), but alas, no. He stayed awake the entire time. He was fussy until we took him out of the car seat, and then he was all good - wide awake, looking around - taking in the lights and the windows and the train. It was actually a lot of fun. And I think I'm mastering the art of eating one-handed. He may or may not have gotten chip crumbs on his legs - I can't rightly say.

Anyway, he's had his before bed bottle and just now fallen asleep, so I'm hoping he'll rest well. It's pretty typical for him to wake up around 2:30 and then again at 5:30, although the night before last he woke up every hour. Two times wouldn't be so bad, except that it takes him an hour to eat... he likes to sleep as he goes.

And finally, if you are interested in cloth diapering and haven't found exactly what you're looking for (or think the price of cloth diapers is outrageous!!!), check out my friend Jen's blog. She's offering to make customized cloth diapers for about $7.50 each. She made them for her own son, Jude (also a cutie), and likes them better than the ones she purchased. She's a super great, honest, creative, very talented, wonderful Christian mom who would do a great job. Seriously, you should get in touch with her if you are in the market. Better quality for a cheaper price. It doesn't get any better.

And now I'm going to take advantage of my son's falling asleep late (see, in my head that translates to sleeping all night - can't a girl dream?). Night night.

Hope you have a somewhat restful night, Patrice! Glad you, Matt and Jonah had some fun family time today. I don't think we have Moe's here in TX (at least not where I am), but it sounds like my kind of place!

Continuing to pray!
Love,
Laura

I love the way you write, kind of conversational, light and breezy. You are so witty and you have a way of expressing your thoughts and ideas which makes the reader feel she knows you. I think you should write a couple of articles and submit them to magazines. You might just find a future writing. How cool is that?

Love you and yours and pray for you often

LOVE MOE'S - yum! Glad you got out today, and that Jonah enjoyed it, too. Take care - you all are in my thoughts often!

I came here just to grab the code for your button and saw the title of this post. Moes is our favorite restaurant!!! I ate it so much when I was pregnant with our 2nd the guys at Moe's swore I'd name the baby "moe". They closed all the Moe's in the Dallas area but since we moved to south texas we now get to enjoy the San Antonio Moe's!!

Anyhow, I love your blog ;)

I am so happy that you guys got out and had a wonderful day! I am sure that Jonah will sleep longer, he was up longer and had a big day! I hope you sleep well! God Bless (I am on my way to your friends' site to check out her diapers)

Moe's??? I give... what kind of a restaurant??? Sounds good, but up here no where to be found. :-(
So glad you are teaching Jonah the finer points of being spontaneous. And I do not mean getting up all night (he he he).
Hope everyone sleeps quietly and restfully,
Praying,

Here's to hoping he'll sleep straight through for you. I know that dream, too... we dream it often. "If we put you down later, you'll sleep later, right child? No? Well, can't fault us for trying!"
Still praying for you all, and sending some love from rainy Seattle...
Blessings & Prayers,

You are an answer to prayer. We just started cloth diapering. My friend gave me some fuzzi bunz for my twins. I have been looking to buy more but they are SO expensive. Thanks for the link!

Patrice, you rock sistah! You always put a smile on my face (and sometimes a tear in my eye). I think I may be a blog stalker, too. Or a real stalker for that matter. Every time I walk into Target I look around, thinking today might be the day that I see you and Jonut. And I'd show you my cute new polka dot flip flops that I just found for $7.99!! And you'd love them. :-) I am a first time poster, and have really been wanting to tell you that you are going to be OK. I think part of the way you feel now has to do with having your boys so close together (those crazy hormones) and also just the isolation you feel after having a child. After I had my first baby, I was so sleep deprived for 6 months that I had the most bizarre thoughts all the time ( I won't go into that now):-). And I had no idea what normal was. So you just have to figure out your "new" normal, and pretty soon the new part goes away, and it just is. Things will get better. That little man of yours is the best parts of you and Matt and so worth it all. Try to get your sleep and keep relying on all of those around you. We will continue to lift you up. Much love to you and your boys.

Now I want a burrito and it's 9am! :)

It sounds like you had a great day! It's great to see Jonah getting to experience new and "normal" things, sounds like he is doing fantastic with that!

Do people stop you when you're out in public and ask questions about Jonah because of his appearance?

If asked in the right way, I think this would be a great time to educate this world on Jonah's condition.

I personally had never heard of it until I found your blog, and now it's one of my favorite causes - EB needs a cure!

Sounds like you all had a fun, smooth day - how nice! As I was reading your post, I started thinking about how you post everyday and I hope that you don't feel obligated to do that. We all enjoy reading your updates, but that is a lot of blogging - I seriously doubt that I could come up w/that much stuff to write about. And it's not like you don't have a lot of other stuff to do! :) So, if you enjoy it, keep at it, maybe it's a release for you. But if it becomes a burden sometimes, please feel released from the obligation to write everyday - we would all certainly understand. Anyway, just thought I would tell you that...hope you got some sweet rest last night. :)

I just posted about your sweet boy on my blog. I have never commented before but I read your blog every day. Your son looks just like my Jack and I just adore him. Crazy since I do not know you guys but I just hope for the very best for your family. I pray for Jonah to live a long life and to be seen for who he really is which is an amazing boy full of courage and love. I just want you to know how much I think about your family.

Patrice, your blog postings sound happier. Are you feeling better?
P.S.-- Proudly displaying my magnet on my car! (I had to go to WalMart -- I hope you don't mind that your magnet was there instead of Target! Don't worry - I drove over to Target as soon as I left WalMart empty-handed.)

Gee Whiz, the price of cloth diapers certainly has gone up. When I was pregnant I bought a few yards of flannel and hemmed them myself (of course that was a hundred years ago). It seems strange that young mothers are going back to cloth diapers--when I had my last baby, I was thrilled...and I mean big time...that I could use disposal ones and not have the hassle of rinsing out dirty cloth diapers in the toilet and then putting them in a pail which stunk to high heavens when I opened it up to get the diapers out to launder. But...to each her own.

Doggone it, Patrice, you have got to stop talking about all the restaurants in N.C. that I miss so much! I DREAM about Ham's homemade chips with that yummy dip. You are going to make me drive down there soon just so I can go to CookOut and Hams, and Lucky 32 and (when flush) Zevely House, and to Old Salem for coffee and buns. I miss Friendly's and Spring Garden Burgers and Noble's (again, only when a kind elderly family member sprang for it), and K&W (yes, Virginia, there is no K&W in Virginia) for fried chicken livers and custard pie. Golly, you are making a Carolina girl just die some days. So so glad you got out for supper. We got our magnet the other day, then the next, one of my dear friends that I hooked up to you got me another one! So the NCGR1TS Excursion driving through Williamsburg Virginia is plastered on both sides with those lovely CAROLINA BLUE magnets. (Who cares what blue they are- for a displaced Carolina girl, they are Carolina Blue!) You rock, darling. Keep on keeping on. Hang in there. I am proud of you. We are all sinners, doubters, and lose faith sometimes. You are a great mom and wife. My family and I are all praying for all of you! With Carolina Love- Elle, Williamsburg, Va

he is indeed cute.

both of your sons are. it's amazing how in the pictures on your blog header, they look almost identical. i know you said the one of Gabe is touched up quite a bit, but really, aside from the coloring on Gabe and the blisters on Jonah, they could pass as the same baby.

thank you for sharing both of them with us!
